U.N. Urges More Time for California Governor

(2003-02-23) -- In the face of a growing movement to recall California Governor Gray Davis, U.N. Secretary-General Kofi Annan has urged the state's voters to give Mr. Davis more time.

California citizens outraged at the financial mismanagement, which has the state $35 billion in debt and planning service cuts and tax increases, are working to gather the 897,158 signatures required to force a recall vote.

But Mr. Annan said United Nations members believe California's accounting history should be audited for several months first.

"We must inspect the records," he said. "As long as Governor Davis is willing to comply with the audits even a little bit, we should allow time for auditing to work."

Will Grayout Davis cooperate with the inspectors? Can they find all the records in a state the size of Iraq? I understand he is hiding the information in the homes of dmv personnel.

I'm tired of these voters acting unilaterally (remember, the "new" definition of multilateral is unanimous). Every single voter in the state should have to agree with this resolution!

Wait A Minute! We in Washington also have an Idiot Governor, ie Gary Locke. This is
actually a regional issue & needs to be resolved by a coalition of the willing. For 30 million I
will allow the Calif Voters a Northern base from
which to launch a dual pronged assault.Have the
money available in one hundred dollar bills and delivered to me personally.

Redfred...your governor may be an idiot...but you've also got a congressman who's a traitor. I just saw McDermott on Wolf Blitzer's show, and it was all I could do to keep from puking. When Seattle keeps electing a guy like this...it's no wonder they also elect an idiot for governor.

The California dnc is the source of his funding. 2million a week on television ads alone. We must cut off the source of their funds, so we can end this oppression. A pre-emptive strike on the Hollywood dunderheads would do severe damage to their terrorist funding.

He won by 47 to 42 percent. They must have counted every swinging Chad in San Francisco.

I am a life long Republican/Conservative and as such I am not suprised by the outcome of Gray Davis's tenure a governor of California. But I must admit the California Republican Party (CRP)has no room to complain. In the past six election cycles the candidates put up by the CRP have been as lackluster a bunch of losers as anyone can imagine. The only ones that have come close to winning are RINOS (republicans in name only). Between the rednecks that would send all the mexicans packing, the libertarians who ignore the fact that some government is needed and those who are so afraid to offend anyone that the whole state laughs at them, they cannot make up their minds who to run. So we get amatuers like Simon, liberals like Riordan and god knows whats like Hershenshon (whatever). Can you believe that when the Republicans took control of the legislature in 1994 there were two (not one but two)turncoats who voted for THE DEMOCRAT Willie Brown, the most corrupt speaker this state has known, to remain as speaker. Don't bother recalling Davis until you elect some COMPETENT party leadership.

Maybe Scott's writing for the Los Angeles Daily News, too:The state's leading newspapers have branded the recall as pointless and vindictive. But there is little love for Davis. An editorial that ran in the Los Angeles Daily News was typical: "Davis may be corrupt and incompetent, but certainly not any more than he was on Nov. 5, when California voters decided to give him another term."

Yeah, they counted every swinging chad in San Francisco, except for the ones in the ballot boxes that were found floating in the Bay...hmmm

Robert,
Yeah Baghdad Jim is despicable!! He gets reelected by Left Coast Liberals from the Soviet of Seattle! He is NOT my Congressman.

Has anyone got Davis' phone number? I have some toxic waste I need to dump in SF Bay and I'm willing to pay.

A convincing, clear case to invade California has not been made. Davis may be corrupt and incompetent, but why invade now, after all this time? There's more to it than meets the eye. This war must be about movies. Everyone knows Hollywood is in California. And movies are made in Hollywood. And we want them!

YES to movies with blood -- but NO blood for movies!

Hey! How come California Republicans are so upset with Gray Dufus? He spent 'bout $10 million on the Republican primary election to get Simon nominated!?!?

But what about France and Germany? What is their opinion? As we all know, the world hangs on their ordained, far more enlightened opinion on matters of our affairs.

Most importantly, despite France and Germany's direct embezellment of funds from California, their involment in the movement to deify Davis should be seen as unbiased and in no way duplicitious.

It is arrogant of the citizens of California to believe that they have any say in their destiny and that our only salvation is through the UN and especially the most valuable guidance of two countries that never won a war.

I just heard that Canada and Mexico will not support and attack on California. They believe that given enough time the actors and communists will destroy each other. Senator Boxer says that the case against Davis has not been made and he should continue to make California the 7th, no 10th, err 15th? largest economy in the world. God Help Us!
