Yay Scott! I needed a candidate to get behind! You da man. Can I be your press secretary when you get in the Big House? Er, I meant, White House.

  • 2 wildhowd // Mar 23, 2007 at 9:37 am

Scott shouldn’t you lower your aspirations a little? I hear Louisiana may be looking for a new governor soon. If nothing else it would give you experience in how to blame the US government for anything that goes wrong in the world. Oh, sorry, that is a demodink response situation. Never mind.

  • 3 upnorthlurkin // Mar 23, 2007 at 9:41 am

Okay, I’m laughing outloud now!! Thanks, Scott!! Why not you?!

  • 4 gafisher // Mar 23, 2007 at 9:57 am

Aw, rats! PayPal keeps cutting me off at six figures.

  • 5 upnorthlurkin // Mar 23, 2007 at 10:08 am

Okay, okay, I’m contributing…..but I want it known I am now my own special interest group!! Not sure what my raison d’etre is yet, but…I’m claiming it!!

  • 6 gafisher // Mar 23, 2007 at 10:11 am

p.s. - The Amazon Honor System worked fine with a more modest figure. C’mon, folks, let’s give Scott a taste of the corrupting influence of money in politics! He may not be a Ðemocrat, (but) he’s human!

  • 7 Darthmeister // Mar 23, 2007 at 10:23 am

Hey, where’s you fake accent, homey? But you have my vote!

BTW, you forgot to promise a chicken in every pot and a watermelon in every cooler. The watermelon will come in handy when it reaches 123 degrees this summer here in flyover country because of Global Warming.

  • 8 onlineanalyst // Mar 23, 2007 at 10:34 am

Bells and whistles for that performance, Scott. I am hastily stuffing a well-deserved check in the mail for you as I type.

If you will excuse and permit this non-paid (though somewhat commercial) shout out, I would like to post some information for those who want to join the Scrappleface Rally in Western Pennsylvania over Labor Day weekend, currently in the makings. There are lots of lurkers and posters who may not be on the email-circuit of us planners. Who knows? Maybe our star, Scott Ott himself, will join us. (He said he would, he said he would!)

Hello from onlineanalyst (OLA). I have gathered information about “housing” and prices for our Labor Day Scrappleface Rally. Scroll all the way through because the cheaper options are on the bottom. For those who desire a little more creature comforts, the prices for HV Resort are also included.

Arrange for you and/or your group’s housing choices on your own. Arrange for your transportation and/or car-pooling on your own. The region is accessible from the PA Turnpike by taking either the Donegal exit (if traveling from the west) or the Somerset exit (from the east). Both places are on Route #31, right next to each other. Directions are on the websites I have listed.
Flying in? I can help you with locating accessible airports, and we can arrange car pools to get you to Hidden Valley/Kooser.

We can arrange food shares and meeting places later, once we know who is coming. Bring your guitars or other musical instruments for some sing-alongs. The Scrappleface parodies offer lots of opportunities for grins. Contact mig, camojack, or me if you are definitely planning to attend. Pass this information along to others, too. I have only sent this to people on my email address list, and I am sure that I am missing many valued posters at Scrappleface.

The more time/effort that I have become invested in this get-together, the more fun it is promising to be.

Finally (!), I was able to talk to a real person to get some information about Hidden Valley Resort and the abutting Kooser State Park facilities. The prices cover every budget.

    Here is the lowdown:
Option 1) The former hotel at Hidden Valley has been converted to 1- and 2- bedroom condominiums, and is no longer available as a hotel. The contact number is listed below if you prefer more privacy.
However, there are other private condominiums homes throughout the resort also available for that weekend. For the most part, they do not have air-conditioning. Elevation in the area is 3000 feet, but late summer can be hot.
Price per 3-bedroom condominium home (sleeping up to six people, shared beds) is $250/night.
Price per 4-bedroom condominium home (sleeping up to eight people, shared beds) is $300/night.
Be aware that there are probably cheaper motels in the area, but the Hidden Valley setting is pretty and offers recreational opportunities.
Here is a website for those opting for this arrangement: http://www.mountainresortproperties.com. There is probably a phone number on the website, should you wish to talk directly to a representative. Make the reservation for yourselves and the group with whom you would share expenses. Work out your own arrangements.

Option 2- camping at the abutting Kooser State Park:
All choices right now are available for the Labor Day weekend, but reservations must be made ahead. Again, make reservations for yourself or your group on your own. A central website for more information is here: http://www.visitpaparks.com. Information on Kooser State Park is here: http://www.fay-west.com/somerset/kooser/

Cabins for three nights (August 31, September 1, and September 2). These sleep six for $137.99/ three nights; four for $111.98/three nights; or nine for $165/ three nights. Again, you can stay for more or fewer nights, which would, of course, change these figures. Work the details out with your sharing campers, and look at the Kooser website to see what you must bring to the cabin.

For tent camping with the limit of five people per site, the price is $19 per night for Friday and Saturday night stays and $16 for Sunday night. There are senior citizen and handicapped person discounts available. Details can be found by contacting the Pennsylvania state parks site above and/or talking to a reservation representative directly at 1-888-727-2757. Work out your own arrangements with your fellow happy campers on any of these reservation options.

We have lots of opportunities for shared food preparation and fellowship, as well as recreational diversions in this western Pennsylvania setting. Scott Ott has indicated that he will join us at some point over that weekend.
Mig has suggested that we have some tee-shirts available for our group. If there are any artists who want to offer a logo or design, I can take the specs to a local business and work out details about prices, sizes, and orders with them.

Hey, Barack Osama Obama is an Irishman! He could be America’s first Black Irishman. I guess this trumps Hillary’s claim to being a Joooooooooo. Sammy Davis Jr. is probably laughing his backside off at these political contortions.

BTW, why don’t these hoity-toity progressives just admit they’re little more than mutts?

  • 10 Darthmeister // Mar 23, 2007 at 10:54 am

That’s … “Obama could be America’s first black Irishman PRESIDENT.” My bad.

  • 11 timcopeland1 // Mar 23, 2007 at 11:19 am

Scott Ott is an IDI OTT

[Editor's Note: Finally a reader with whom we can find common ground.]

  • 12 Shelly // Mar 23, 2007 at 11:36 am

I love this idea! I’m afraid the campaign slogan might be difficult. People love rhymes and I’m afraid “Hot for Scott Ott” might be taken the wrong way. Plus I doubt camo, kajun or possum would wear the buttons. ;-)

    Thanks Scott!

  • 17 Darthmeister // Mar 23, 2007 at 2:48 pm

Scott, maybe you can get Pat Paulson to run on your ticket as the VP.

BTW, your unvarnished honesty is a breath of fresh air. I like it when a politician tells me up front he/she is going to take me to the cleaners. No pretense there.

  • 18 Ms RightWing, Ink // Mar 23, 2007 at 3:38 pm

I too, come from a simple background so I reckon I can contribute a case of scrapple. I found a recipe and as soon as I can figure it out then I hope we can can campaign on a “scrapple in every pot” theme

  • 21 Maggie // Mar 23, 2007 at 4:59 pm

How much will you charge to sleep in the Lincoln bedroom?….lol

  • 22 conserve-a-tips // Mar 23, 2007 at 5:00 pm

OK, so I gave to this magnificent campaign…does that mean it is tax deductible? And does this mean I get an invitation to the Innaugural Ball? And does this mean that I get to sleep in the Lincoln Bedroom? Huh? Oh. Wrong President. Sorry. :-)

So, I think this is a good idea. I’m taking you seriously, Scott, and getting the campaign slogans ready. It’ll be the first campaign where people actually believe the candidate means what he says.

How about, “Vote Ott! He Can be Bought!”

or “Scott Ott! He Kinda Cares A Lot!”

or “Ott’s For You and Himself Too.”

or “Scott Ott: No Task Too Big and No Bribe Too Small.”

I’m working on your logo now.

  • 23 conserve-a-tips // Mar 23, 2007 at 5:33 pm

BTW, when I read the title to this section, I automatically wondered if Scott had thought that the White House had been lost or stolen. I read that he “seeks White House,” and I thought that surely The White House is big enough for him to see that it is still there, albeit kinda tattered from the constant barrage of partisan attacks.

  • 26 Tom Hoefling // Mar 23, 2007 at 8:25 pm

There once was a candidate, Scott
Check him out, if you haven’t, you Ott
He wants you to send him a fin
Just don’t expect him to win
‘Cuz a chuckle is all that you bought!

  • 27 camojack // Mar 23, 2007 at 8:26 pm

    L…O…L.

BTW, Darthmeister…Pat Paulson died; apparently, although that doesn’t necessarily preclude “his” vote, it might just keep him off the ballot…

  • 28 Darthmeister // Mar 23, 2007 at 9:16 pm

If dead Democrats can vote, camo, there’s no reason why a dead guy can’t run as Scott’s VP. In fact it might encourage some Democratic crossover votes given that they are the culture of death.

Have you ever heard or seen anything as despicable as this?

The Oregon anarchists demonstrated a new low in hatefulness, and Indymedia takes “pride” in capturing their malice. Talk about mind-numbed robots chanting vicious and vacuous slogans. Listen to them all… if you can stomach the talk of tools.

  • 33 conserve-a-tips // Mar 24, 2007 at 7:29 am

Good morning all. It is a beautiful, overcast day with the possibility of rain - finally!!! - and a good day for painting inside. I choose to stay in my own little world today because it’s just so crazy out there! I saw that clip too Onlineanyalyst and was just sick. It’s the 60’s all over again.

  • 34 Darthmeister // Mar 24, 2007 at 9:18 am

Yeah, I saw this disgusting video at LGF. And these people - who stand in the shade of the tree of liberty watered by the blood, sweat and tears of those who serve honorably in noble causes - spit on the very institution that makes their seditious “protest” possible! Yet liberals pretend ignorance to note the irony.

If America would end up cutting-and-running and the enemy was to have their way in establishing some form of sharia here in America in, say. the next twenty or thirty years (as is already being contemplated in Eurabia!), these useful idiots on the left would be beheaded if effigies of say Mohammed or jihadists were being burned.

What is interesting is how the anti-war liberal will try to distance themselves from such traitorous whackery by claiming it’s just a few “fringies”, but we’re seeing more and more of this kind of behavior by virulent anti-war liberals which certainly belies their previous lies about “We Support the Troops” - yeah, from the end of the rope.

  • 35 conserve-a-tips // Mar 24, 2007 at 9:56 am

Darthmeister: The other irony is that these “peaceniks” aren’t peaceful at all, but are violent by the very nature of their speech and actions. “Oh, what a tangled web we weave…..”.

  • 36 Darthmeister // Mar 24, 2007 at 10:20 am

And isn’t it ironic that according to LibDonks American soldiers die on battelfields in order to protect the First Amendment “rights” of seditious leftists who burn effigies of American soldiers (after all, they’re only being “patriotic” with their “dissent”) but Americans who support their government and American soldiers involved in a noble cause in the GWOT don’t have a right to their opinion without being called “chickenhawks”?

  • 37 Ms RightWing, Ink // Mar 24, 2007 at 10:34 am

It’s to bad none of those peace weenies had the gonads (can I say that) to show their face on that video. If I was there, I believe I would have been forced to follow them home and pay homage to their little weenie bodies lying in a pile of blood and bruises.

I would let them live though as to never forget the woman in the wheelchair that put a hurt on them.

Quietly retiring to my bunker mentality

  • 39 upnorthlurkin // Mar 24, 2007 at 2:26 pm

Count me right there next to you with my Louisville Slugger, Ms. Rightwing!! You don’t wanna make me mad!! My hubby was spit on in San Fran when he came home from Viet Nam…..if I’d been there, somebody would’ve probably been arrested….!(but not before I had gotten in a couple of good swings!) The old “mama Bear” instinct kicks in when I see these idjits! Read over at Villainous Company the only ones arrested were under 21 yrs old.

  • 40 Darthmeister // Mar 24, 2007 at 2:47 pm

Here’s the latest conspiracy theory from the anti-war moonbats at KOS and the DU: Those aren’t really anti-war, peace-loving, we-support-the-troop liberals burning effigies and the American flag but rather its a vast right-wing conspiracy to discredit the anti-war movement! Like, man … it’s probably Karl Rove and Dick Cheney who covered their faces and are now embarassing the anti-war movement by hang/burning effigies of American stormtroopers soldiers!

Buwahahahahahahaha! These people can never take responsibility for the numbskulls full of mush on their side of the aisle!

  • 41 Darthmeister // Mar 24, 2007 at 3:05 pm

    A “moderate” Muslim?

Tarek Fatah, an influential “moderate” Muslim living in Canada and communications director of the Muslim Canadian Congress was recently threatened by Muslim fundamentalists who left voicemail messages that he would “be slaughtered” if he didn’t quit “disrespecting Islam” by siding with the Canadian government against Islam.

However, Tarek Fatah, an alleged “moderate” had publicly stated last year, “It is ironic that Muslim extremists are portraying themselves as anti-imperialist, when in fact Al-Qaeda and the Taliban are nothing more but a creation of the CIA.” I guess Tarek is not Muslim enough for the hard-core Islamofascist. But if this is what passes for “moderate” Muslims, then certainly Islam is no religion of peace.

Muslims fundamentalists really aren’t that different from liberal fundies. Unwilling to take responsibility for those things that their own ideological clan commits in the name of their cause, they have to blame either America, the CIA, or conservatives.

Also, have you heard about the latest excuse advanced by some American secular “progressives” (read: socialists) as to why the Soviet Union ultimately failed? Evil America, its trading partners and their collective capitalist greed wouldn’t let the socialist experiment succeed in the Soviet Union, that’s why it economically imploded! I kid you not!

You know, neverthink is starting to make a lot of sense to me. I’m turning over a new leaf. I’m beginning to understand his point of view. We’ve already lost the illegal and immoral war in Iraq and we need to bring them home. American soldiers dying in a war is immoral. If FDR and General Eisenhower had been more compassionate men, after the debacles of Market Garden and the Battle of the Bulge, they would have withdrawn all American troops from German occupied Europe thereby assuring nearly 100,000 more American soldiers would have survived that war. I mean, what could Hitler, or Tojo for that matter, really have done to attack the American mainland? Neither had the military technology to do so and we could have stopped any attack in international waters off the East and West coasts.
