Seizing Moment, Hillary Totes Bible to Gun Range

by Scott Ott for ScrappleFace · 79 Comments · · Print This Story Print This Story

(2008-04-13) — Sensing an opportunity to portray Sen. Barack Obama as elitist and out of touch after his remarks about “bitter” rural Americans who cling to guns, God and xenophobia, Sen. Hillary Clinton stopped after church today at an indoor gun range, where she fired roughly 300 rounds through a handgun she said she carries concealed everywhere she goes.

Her lower lip bulging from a dip of Skoal, Sen. Clinton put her Bible in her handbag, and drew out her own Para Ordnance Warthog .45 caliber pistol.

As reporters looked on, the Democrat presidential candidate emptied one 10-round magazine after another, with fair accuracy, at a human silhouette target.

“Small town folk like us,” said Sen. Clinton, “don’t cling to God or guns because we’re bitter about the economy, as my opponent suggests. We believe in God because he’s real, and we keep and bear arms as the best insurance against tyrants who would strip our freedoms if they didn’t fear our collective power.”

As for the economy, the candidate said, small-town people haven’t been sitting on their hands since the steel and textile mills closed 25 years ago.

“We’re Americans,” she said, “We’re not a bunch of cry babies. Things change. We deal with it. We suck it up, learn a new skill, and do something else to earn the money we need to buy stuff, you know, like Bibles and bullets.”

Bibles and guns go well together; very well.

Some years ago there was a western movie that included a traveling preacher who carried his Bible everywhere he went.

The movie went on in standard western manner shoot ‘em up, good guy, bad guy story. The preacher manages his way through various scrapes until the end, when the head bad guy corners the preacher demanding how is your Bible going to help you now?

The preacher opens his Bible withdrawing the double barreled derringer concealed in space hollowed out in the pages, and shoots the bad guy dead.

Replacing the derringer, he comments, “Live by the sword and die by the sword, it’s in the book.”

It’s time for folks to start carrying their Bible everywhere.

Speaking of the link Barry O. sees between rage, religion and weapons, here is a fascinating story about a bomb blowing up a mosque — the authorities have determined the blast was not an attack, “just an accident.”

I hope the people who take care of the bombs in churches around here know what they’re doing.

Actually, Scott, sHrillary would be far better off with the Springfield Armory .45 Auto XD, preferably with NiteSites. They’re far more ergonomic friendly for women … and men.

Any of you anti-gun libs ever wonder why it is deranged mass murderers don’t work their evil at gun ranges? Gee, could it be because everyone else there is armed and know how to put a 9mm/.40/.45 bullet on target? In fact, I’ve never heard of a shoot-out at a gun range which puts to lie the liberal claim conceal or open carry would turn American streets into a wild, wild west shooting gallery. The fact 48 states have conceal carry laws and the “wild, wild, west” phenomenon never occurred in any of those states shows what liars anti-gun liberals are. It’s also why highly publicized “gun free” zones are so attractive to mass murdering nutbags, they know there is no effective resistance to their evil.

BTW, any woman who knows how to shoot trap/skeet or shoots 300 round during a session gets my vote … unfortunately sHrillary really isn’t one of those Second Amendment patriots. It’s a wonder her carrying the Bible doesn’t cause her to burst into flames, proving once again that there are such things as miracles.

Personally, I always preferred Kodiak but that Warthog is a pretty nifty peashooter. If I didn’t already have the Para-Ordnance LTC 1911, I might opt for that little rascal!

The dip of Skoal is only slightly more unlikely with sHrillary than the handgun!

Oh, and I haven’t dipped any Kodiak for almost five months, now (he says, fifteen pounds heavier…).

  • 12 Darthmeister // Apr 13, 2008 at 8:46 am

    gafisher and mnk,

The Pilgrims used to tote their firearms to church with them. It wasn’t a matter of lack of faith but rather using the brain that God gave them. One of the unalienable rights is the right to self-defense (which falls under the general heading of “the right to life”) which doesn’t get “checked in” at the door of even a church.

I used to go to a church with a shooting buddy of mine who started carrying even in the church. Knowing he was armed never bothered me in the least and I figured his distraction would give me time to slip out a side door and get to my hardware in the trunk of my car. But I don’t get paranoid about these things, I just maintain reasonable situational awareness.

Real Christians (who should be as wise as serpents but innocent as doves) don’t want a repeat of this and this and this. In today’s workd it looks like mainstream Americans of faith (both Jews and Christians) are becoming increasing targets of agnostics, religion-haters, and gangbanger.

Gary Cass of the Christian Anti-Defamation Commission: “Self-defense is not just a right, but a Christian duty. Jesus told his followers, ‘if you don’t have a sword, sell your cloak and buy one’. … Christians are not to be a soft target for the hateful and deranged. Church leaders have a duty not to allow a crazed gunman to come and shoot up their congregation. Thank God for security officer Jeanne Assam and for New Life Church’s security preparations.”

Clearly, church sanctuaries are no longer hallowed ground to worldly evildoers in American society and particularly in the Muslim world. When was the last time a Second Amendment Christian shot up an atheist meeting/convention or a Muslim mosque? It just doesn’t happen with any significant frequency that I’m able to Google.

The stress of campaigning against Obama has driven Hillary to drink.

    Saturday Night With Clinton.

“ … the New York senator downed a shot of Crown Royal whiskey, had a beer and chomped down a slice of cheese pizza … ”

A word of advice, Hillary. Next time, make it a shot of Jack Daniels, or perhaps Jim Beam ; skip the pizza ( remember Monica? you don’t want us to … ), have a pickled egg instead ; lay off the phony accent jive ( speaking of bad memories, do you recall Sen. Kerry asking where he could get a hunting license? Don’t go there! ) ; and don’t get distracted while you’re drinking - make sure you’re taking a sip from your beer & not the styrofoam cup you’ve been spitting your tobacco juice into. Skoal !

  • 27 Fred Sinclair // Apr 13, 2008 at 12:31 pm

Tinman & gafisher #’s 28&30 - It is in the books I’ve read that the sword Jesus referred to (and of which they already had two) was the “Roman Short Sword” in many museums there are originals from that era. Running from 18″ to 22″ in blade length they were strictly used for close range self defense.

Offense or aggression would call for a broad sword, battle sword, cutlass, crossbow, spear, lance, pike, bow and arrow, etc. but for it’s day and age the “short sword” was state of the art for close range self defense.

Today, in a different era, the snub nosed .38 could be considered state of the art, close range, self defense. Which is why I’ve never felt any need for a permit issued by some “Authority Figure” I’m of the opinion that the only authority I care to answer to is: “Luke 22:36 Then said he unto them, But now, he that hath a purse, let him take it, and likewise his scrip: and he that hath no sword, let him sell his garment, and buy one.”

I’ve noted that Jesus did not phrase that as a request or a suggestion, but rather a direct command.

Should it ever be that push comes to shove and I survive, then as a bottom line, “it’s better to be tried by twelve than carried by six”. I’ll leave it up to God to sort out the details. (I’ve never been much for details anyway).

You can’t make this stuff up. The moronic “Reverend Wright” opening his ugly piehole and accused Thomas Jefferson of being “a pedophile.” Of course the liberal media covered for the not so good “reverend” and deleted that reference to Jefferson being a pedophile when Wright was railing about how we corncob smokin’, cousin-pokin’ rednecks would consider Mr. Jefferson unpatriotic for believing America would suffer God’s judgment for slavery … which America did during the War Between the States. The guy is total moonbat, and Obamalamadumdum adoringly sat at his feet for 20 years! And this guy is presidential material? Yeah, right.

As to the conspiracy theory that Thomas Jefferson fathered child(ren) with one of his female slaves is totally unproven since it was suspected for some time that Jefferson’s brother may have had dalliances with female slaves and the fact there are eight other Jeffersons who could have fathered Sally Hemings lone son. DNA testing cannot differentiate between brothers and blood relatives two hundred years out. Of course the historical lie that Thomas Jefferson fathered a slave child is the very basis Wright’s kookery and had previously been much ballyhooed by brain-dead liberal lemmings who were trying to rehabilitate Bill Clinton’s legacy. You know, if Thomas Jefferson fathered an illegitimate child, then what Billy Bob did in the Oval Office isn’t really so bad.

“Reverend” Wright is nothing more than a racebaiting, lying charlatan and is exactly the kind of person Mr. Obama apparently likes to have as his mentor for the last twenty years. If they guy can’t even see what a lying moron Wright is, what chance does he have in seeing lying Muslim fundamentalists for what they really are?

Darthmeister #35 - I think that regarding Mr. Wright I will not invest time with whatever title he has assigned himself; Reverend has always nudged a bit too close to revered for me to ever be comfortable using it to address any human being.

Perhaps in his case I could borrow from the famous retort utilized by Michael when dealing with one of Mr. Wright’s cohorts: Jude 1:9 Yet Michael the archangel, when contending with the devil he disputed about the body of Moses, durst not bring against him a railing accusation, but said, The Lord rebuke thee.

So I could address him as The Lord rebuke thee Wright or Mr. The Lord rebuke thee Wright? I think the latter seems to roll off the tongue more pleasantly.

I’m in love with *little Johnny.* - Heirborn Ranger

A teacher in Elmira, New York asked her 6th grade class how many of them were Obama fans. Not really knowing what an Obama fan is, but wanting to be liked by the teacher, all the kids raised their hands except for Little Johnny.
The teacher asked Little Johnny why he has decided to be different…again.
Little Johnny said, “Because I’m not an Obama fan.”
The teacher asked, “Why aren’t you an Obama fan?”
Johnny said, “Because I’m a Republican.”
The teacher asked him why he’s a Republican.
Little Johnny answered, “Well, my Mom’s a Republican and my Dad’s a Republican, so I’m a Republican.”
Annoyed by this answer, the teacher asked, “If your mom was a moron and your dad was an idiot, what would that make you?”
With a big smile, Little Johnny replied, “That would make me an Obama fan.”

In my opinion, if you read on down in Luke 22, the key to the core teaching in the “get a sword” lesson (think of it as a Disciple Field Test) of verse 36, can be found in verse 51 (and then a peek back at verse 35).

So Hillary had a bump and a beer back? Big deal! She’s still a loser!

In my doom ‘n gloom mode, I predicted a while back that we (conservatives) would screw around and lose this election. I have to re-think that now. The Democrats are cannibalizing their own. The true colors of the future president (no racist remark intended) are coming clear.

I still don’t like John Sydney McCain, but in a pinch I’ll hold my nose and pull the handle for him. Osama Bamalama scares the bejabbers out of me, and Hilly couldn’t hit a barn with an axe, no matter how much range time she gets.

I prefer the Browning .40 or the Sig Sauer P-232. The former is heavy enough to pistol-whip about any problem without having to resort to lethality, and the latter fits comfortably on one’s belt when attending church services.

Willie Nelson, in a fit of sanity, made an outstanding movie some years ago titled “Red-Headed Stranger.” God, guns, and a searing performance by R.G. Armstrong as the most bitter man you’d never want to have a beer with.

    B. Hussein Obama is # 1 a liberal & # 2 a Democrat. as such, he is into emotion. He not only knows emotion, he understands and uses emotions.

Growing up he’s heard (and been called) every name in the book so he’s of the “Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words can never hurt me.” crowd.

The area where he is weakest is in logic, reason and facts. They go right over his head since he doesn’t understand them. Like Hitler, he plays to the crowd, mainly emotional liberals like himself who make up his cult following and are easily swayed, to and fro by every wind that blows.

Facts, logic, issues and reason are what goes over his head. He can’t deal with them other than in the abstract. He lives in a Picassoesque world and his buzzword is change.

So if it should be that HillBilly, Inc. fails to steal the nomination of the DNC. He will find that his third grade emotionalism will lose the wind in it’s sails., and although America is ready for a negro President, it’s going to have to be Condi Rice or perhaps Judge Janice Rogers Brown but not Obama.

The Plantation mentality of the Democrat Party toward negroes as victims, so they cannot actually allow Obama to be elected. Not really.

  • 60 Darthmeister // Apr 14, 2008 at 3:17 pm

Well, you do have to hand it to messiah Obama, he truly is a unifier. With his tone-deaf remarks to the limousine liberals in San Francisco he managed to unify all the corncob smokin’, cousin-pokin’ redneck southern Democrats in Pennsylvania… sHrillary has just opened a 20 point lead over messiah.

Hey bober, better minds than yours have figured out the proper place of firearms in civil society. In his Inaugural Address George Washington said firearms were next in importance to the plow.

    Other founding quotes:

“The very atmosphere of firearms anywhere and everywhere restrains evil interference - they deserve a place of honor with all that is good.” -George Washington

“A strong body makes the mind strong. As to the species of exercise, I advise the gun. While this gives moderate exercise to the body, it gives boldness, enterprise, and independence.”

“To preserve liberty, it is essential that the whole body of people always possess arms…” -Richard Henry Lee

And then there’s that pesky founding differentiation between the “militia” and the “select militia” or “state militia”.

“The militia, when properly formed, are in fact the people themselves.. . . [T]he Constitution ought to secure a genuine and guard against a select militia, by providing that the militia shall always be kept well organized, armed, and disciplined, and include . . . all men capable of bearing arms…” -Richard Henry Lee

“Who are the militia? They consist of the whole people, except for a few public officials.” -George Mason

And given that those on your side of the aisle believe American troops are having such trouble dealing with a few ten thousand insurgents in Iraq, imagine the combined force of 30 million well-armed Second Amendment patriots here in America if it came down to opposing a truly tyrannical Amerikan government. This view was presciently opined by Noah Webster:

“Before a standing army can rule, the people must be disarmed; as they are in almost every kingdom in Europe. The supreme power in America cannot enforce unjust laws by the sword; because the whole of the people are armed, and constitute a force superior to any bands of regular troops that can be, on any pretense, raised in the United States.”

I guess in your world the American founders were little more than a bunch of paranoid gun nuts.

BTW, Scott, if sHrillary does take her Bible to the gun range, it’s probably to shoot it.

Speaking of authority and what It does or doesn’t have to say, there’s this

“But I tell you who hear me: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you. If someone strikes you on one cheek, turn to him the other also. If someone takes your cloak, do not stop him from taking your tunic. Give to everyone who asks you, and if anyone takes what belongs to you, do not demand it back. Do to others as you would have them do to you. ”

Then again the author of that may have gotten the wrong idea too. There’s a lot of that going on these days

  • 63 boberinyetagain // Apr 14, 2008 at 3:39 pm

    I think it’s supposed to read…

“But I tell you who hear me: Shoot your enemies and those who hate you (with or without good reason), shoot those who curse you, shoot those who mistreat you. If someone strikes you on one cheek, shoot him. If someone takes your cloak, shoot him too. Shoot everyone who asks you, and if anyone takes what belongs to you, and/or demand it back. Shoot other before they shoot you.”

    Yeah, that’s the ticket

  • 64 boberinyetagain // Apr 14, 2008 at 3:40 pm

Don’t make me reinterpret this passage…

“Do not judge and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven. Give and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.”

cause it sure does seem to need it

I have to go get some range time with that Browning .40. It hasn’t been out of the kitchen knife drawer in quite a while.

I bought both my daughters -232s for their birthdays. They fit comfortably in their purses, and I worry a lot less. Martha Stewart would approve; worrying less is a good thing, and a nice feeling.

Angry and bitter as always on Scorprion Hill…

Or we could amuse ourselves with this one for a while…the possibilities are nearly endless…

But love your enemies, do good to them, and lend to them without expecting to get anything back. Then your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High, because he is kind to the ungrateful and wicked. Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful.

But it’s easy to see why you would feel these pieces of advice to be quaint/outdated, in need of revision. Have fun with that

JL3, need to know what I’m quoting?

  • 68 Possumtrot // Apr 14, 2008 at 3:53 pm

Bob, what do we do when the chips are down? Use harsh language? It may never get to that point in the post-modern world, but the notion of self-defense is there for a reason. Look at all these missing co-eds and “disposable” wives, and tell me they wouldn’t be better off if they’d blown some squirrel out of his socks.

I don’t want that for my children, but given the alternative, I’ll back them in court and settle for a bad guy scattered over an acre of pavement. You have kids, so don’t spin it. An armed society is a polite society.

Bober #64: Why do I have to bring this up? In order to judge, one needs something upon which to base a judgment. Liberals have no moral compass, ergo they have nothing upon which to make a judgment. What an easy life, when you don’t neet do make any kind of judgments! Ah, but without the moral absolute, one is lost… as are Liberals. That’s why many quote the Bible in proliferation, without a moral background as a guide to understanding. That way, they can make it read whatever they want it to. Lots of “Christians” subscribe to a cafeteria belief system, in which they pick and choose what they want to believe and discard anything that goes against their personal beliefs.

    Blessed are the peacemakers.

Perennial Middle East Peace Planner and failed amateur President Jimmy Catarrh has offered his services as a “go-between” for the militant Palestinian Hamas group. Drawing on his years of experience dealing towith various Islamists, Catarrh admits the process could take time and require concessions from the U.S. and other greedy, self-serving Democracies. “However,” asserts the former nut rancher, “the possibility exists for a real and lasting peace between Hamas and Fatah.”

OK, but my newly inked version has it as being: blessed are the pizzamakers. I’m gettin’ right hungry waitin’ for the wife to arrive home from work. This is, btw, our anniversary. We spent it working….how romantic.

  • 73 mindknumbed kid // Apr 14, 2008 at 8:17 pm

I see no controversy here, you can certainly carry a sword or 44 mag, and still love your enemies and do good to them. But if he decides to eliminate you from the human race there is no obligation to help him do it. The right to self defense is not just for non-Christians you know.

    re:71

Pass the pizza please. I was going to make one of my WFLP’s (world famous loaded pizzas) this weekend but I am still a bit hung over from my pneumonia-though I did force myself to go to the Y this morning.

I guess it will have to wait, unless pizza becomes one of those things Obama says us rural folks can’t eat.

P.S. I hit goal number 1 on my weight loss. Many goals left, but I won’t be the same stuffed woolly bear at our next get together (?) (?)

    Hint, hint

But I still want my pizza

The bible is always qouted by liberals as a the way to roll over and let everyone walk all over you. Heck, it almost sounds like it would be better to let someone kill you instead of saying a harsh word.

How come they never qoute the bible when it comes to homosexuals?

Buenos raid: must be south of the border?
