Victory Valley Free Camp Offer Draws Media Attention

NOT SATIRE…
FREE CAMP UPDATE…
ScrappleFace editor-in-chief Scott Ott, is also Executive Director of a Christian children’s ministry called Victory Valley Camp, in Zionsville, PA. Recently the camp began offering a free week to children who have a military parent deployed to Iraq or Afghanistan in 2007. When word got out, contributions came in even before campers. So far, we have received donations of about $3,700 from at least 17 states and one foreign country. We have at least nine campers so far coming to camp for free, and we’re eager to welcome more.

The Lehigh Valley’s leading newspaper has written a story about this, and today CBS3, a Philadelphia TV station did one as well. Click link to see video.

Superb, Maestro Ott! And God bless you for your support for our troops’ families.

Mom Green in the news link video looks as if she has a load of worry off her mind through your generous offer.

May you have growing success and involvement through the article and news feature.

Be sure to share with us more of the kids’ adventures as the summer progresses.

    What OLA said.

This was a truly inspired and worthwhile idea, Scott. The video clip said it all. Congratulations to you and VVC! And all you happy campers-have a great time!

Amen to all of the above, a good and worthwhile break from the world of satire. My prayers are with you and VVC.

Nutty news - Prior to the Peter Pan story, the word Wendy cannot be found in any language. Yet, today it’s one of my top ten favorites for a girl,

Scott, I tipped the cup again for Victory Valley Camp. I’d like to thank you for the privilege of allowing people like us to directly support children of Iraq/Afghan veterans.

I know $3700 may sound like a lot of money, but I would think generous Americans could dig a little deeper to personally support the children in this fun and worth cause of military families serving on the frontiers of freedom. Given that my church of six hundred people often plunk over $20,000 a week into the offering plate (no brag, just fact and we’re mostly middle-income), I’m perplexed why the floodgates of middle America’s generosity hasn’t been similarly unleashed here at Scrappleface given the national exposure you have.

If every Scrapple visitor simply gave $2 for the children over this next week, we could easily quintuple the amount given already.

Remember the widow’s mite! “And may the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.”

What a delight for the rest of us to watch! Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for what you are offering these children, and their parents, and for sharing this joy with the rest of us. Scott, you and VVC continue sharing God’s generous blessings in ways that glorify Him. And you’re showing these kids that their parents service to this country is appreciated and of the highest honor. Again, sir, thank you. Show ‘em a good time.

In the spirit of honoring the troops, check out this video that a friend of my aunt made. It was filmed entirely on location in Woodstock, Georgia, at no cost. If you’re anything like me, it’ll bring tears to your eyes.
