Reid Unveils ‘Trojan Horse’ Bill to Contain Health Reform

by Scott Ott for ScrappleFace · 19 Comments · · Print This Story Print This Story

(2009-10-13) — Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid ended days of speculation this morning by releasing the text of a so-called “Trojan Horse” bill which he’ll use to bypass Republican filibuster attempts, amending it later to include the full text of the Democrat health care reform legislation.

The “vapor bill” would ban “concealed, or open, carry of any farm implement comprised of sequential, lateral, equidistant metal tines mounted on a wooden pole anywhere within the District of Columbia, or within 1,000 yards of any government office building in the United States.”

“Given the way this session of Congress has gone,” said Sen. Reid, “I feel confident that a pitchfork ban will enjoy wide, bipartisan support, and provide the ideal platform on which to affix our health care reform amendment.”

Sen. Mitch McConnell, R-KY, called the measure “a cynical move by Democrats who know that Republican Senators will always vote to protect the American people, especially to protect those precious few who answered the call to serve their nation as legislators.”

Ah, Scott, that dig had the perfect pitch.

Reid wants to make hay where there is no sunshine.

As long as there's Snowe in Maine, no trickery will be needed. Too bad Winter's here!

What is this call of history that Snowe apparently is responding to? Is she hearing voices in her head?

Seriously, NO fiscally ignorant person, regardless of party, should be serving on the Finance Committee.

Is our Congress so unaware that the dollar has been relegated out of its reserve currency status? (Check out the Drudge Report red headline story.) The "stimulus bill" and Bernanke's Fed policies have been attributed to the continuing decline of the dollar.

And we want to add Cap and Tax, as well as a federal "health-care" bill to this idiocy?

    I think they'll add a provision regarding torches, too…

Apparently you didn't. I posted the comment and went away. When i came back it was gone which inspired the deletion post. I went away again and when I cam back, the post I thought was deleted was back…so I deleted the deletion post.
Confused yet? Me too…because your post about not deleting it was not there (here) until long after all of this happened…and I'd already deleted the comment you just replied to…
My head hurts…too much thinking…never good for you (me)

All of the big boys on the world stage, whether foe or ally (and we are losing those latter fast) have Barry the Ineffectual figured out. Maybe some of them laundered campaign funds to put him into office.

Our Adolescent Emperor is driving us into bankruptcy with his fascistic takeover of huge sectors in our economy and leaving wide gaps in our national security.
