Obama Claims Right to Yank Sotomayor Post-Confirmation

by Scott Ott for ScrappleFace · 49 Comments · · Print This Story Print This Story

ScrappleFace editor Scott Ott writes a Tuesday and Friday column for The Washington Examiner. Here’s an excerpt of his most recent, and a link to read more.

As concerns grow that Supreme Court nominee Sonia Sotomayor may not be a reliable pro-choice vote on the high court, President Barack Obama today attempted to calm fears of abortion rights advocates.

The president, who as a state senator opposed the Born Alive Infant Protection Act that mandates medical care for a living baby after a botched abortion attempt, said that even if Judge Sotomayor makes it through the confirmation process, her judicial career could still end suddenly.

“… her judicial career could still end suddenly.”

This is a longstanding tradition when dealing with the Chicago political machine.

  • 2 R.A.M. // May 30, 2009 at 8:53 am

Sotomayor is pro-life when it comes to baby’s of HER RACE, (La Raza),but pro-choice when the baby’s are any other color.

Unless someone is EXTREMELY dense, (like our resident trolls are), it is pretty obvious how she feels about abortion.

ONLY a baby killer would refer to PRO-LIFE people as ANTI-ABORTION.

She had no problem saying PRO-CHOICE for those who want to kill baby’s because they may cause “inconvience”, as the grandchild that is coming for blabber.

Although, if he can somehow convince his daughter to kill it anyway, he will have right up until the moment the baby takes it’s first breath of air thanks to the likes of the left wing killers!

One question: If pro-choice people are not really PRO-ABORTION people, why do they ALL fight tooth and nail to have people arrested that want to simply INFORM prospective pregnant Mom’s that there is another choice other than DEATH?

    I’ll wait baby killers!

  • 3 R.A.M. // May 30, 2009 at 9:01 am

PS: Obama, (I believe), could care less if Sotomayor gets confirmed now or not! He got what he wanted already by simply nominating her. He looks like a “friend” to the hispanic voters and that is ALL he cares about!

If he can throw her under the bus and nominate someone else, WITHOUT looking like he had a hand in it, he will do it in a “Chicago minute”!

This, (I hesitate to call him a), man, has NO loyalities what-so-ever!

PS: Now that there are a total of 14 Zsars, (Szars?), the question is how long before Obama appoints a “Zsar-Zsar”?

I guess we won’t see any posts from a certain troll until Monday since he doesn’t have to go to work on weekends.

I started to say, “He doesn’t have to work on weekends”, but from his time on the “Net” during work hours, it is obvious he doesn’t “WORK” during the week either!

  • 7 Darthmeister // May 30, 2009 at 4:21 pm

Headline should read: Obama Aborts Sotomayor’s Nomination.

Liberal Ted Rall believes Obama ought to resign.

Frankly, after destroying this nation’s economy, aided and abetted by the braying jack@$$es in the U.S. Congress, after going on his blame-America global tour, and now after making great progress in snatching defeat from the jaws of victory in Iraq and Afghanistan, Mr. Obama ought to be impeached sooner rather than later. This guy is a total embarassment to mainstream Americans who have seen close to half of their wealth evaporated under a Democrat Congress and a Democrat President and now only have more inflation and more taxes to look forward to as these closet Marxists/Socialists rush pell mell to create the velvet gulag that they’ve so long pined for … at all of our expense, of course.

Note: Left-wing moonbats have been writing letters to the editor whining about how we “all ought to pull together” to make our transition to socialism under Obama a reality blah, blah, blah … and that we all can do more with less! Of course the reason we all have less is because these dimwitted Donks have elected politicians whose natural reflexes are to reach further into taxpayers’ backpockets is the answer to everything.

  • 8 Darthmeister // May 30, 2009 at 4:23 pm

Sheesh … should read “as the answer to everything.”

  • 9 Left Coast-Right Mind // May 30, 2009 at 7:39 pm

So if President Obama is unsuccessful at removing Sotomayor post-confirmation (as in botches it), will she be wrapped in her robe and left in a storage closet of the court building until her career ebbs away, thus fulfilling the original wishes of the one who nominated her?

  • 10 Fred Sinclair // May 30, 2009 at 8:07 pm

I just picked this up from DRUDGE – leave it to Liddy.

LIDDY: I understand that they found out today that Miss Sotomayor is a member of La Raza, which means in illegal alien, “the race.” And that should not surprise anyone because she’s already on record with a number of racist comments.

Finished with the race-based attack, Liddy moved on to denigrate Sotomayor’s gender:

LIDDY: Let’s hope that the key conferences aren’t when she’s menstruating or something, or just before she’s going to menstruate. That would really be bad. Lord knows what we would get then.

Finally, Liddy disputed the entire idea that there’s anything wrong with the paucity of women and total lack of Hispanics on the Court:

LIDDY: And everybody is cheering because Hispanics and females have been, quote, underrepresented, unquote. And as you pointed out, which I thought was quite insightful, the Supreme Court is not designed to be and should not be a representative body.

  • 11 Newsman // May 30, 2009 at 8:44 pm

    Hey Fred:

What is a man like you, who spends half your time spouting off about your undeniable christian beliefs, doing propagating such trash talk about anyone ?

Guess it just show you that people who spend so much energy talking about their version of religion, do not believe in practicing what they espouse !

And there is Darthmeister practicing his unique intellectual style.

All one of a kind methinks !

  • 12 Darthmeister // May 31, 2009 at 12:23 am

There goes Newsman, judging people who don’t live up to his “standard” of how he narrow-mindedly believes Christians should act. I wonder what deity appointed him to be Christians’ personal holy spirit? Thank goodness this barking moonbat isn’t God and that we’re not accountable to such pontificating dorks.

Say Newsman, why are you wasting your time casting your pearls of wisdom before us know-nothings when you could be spending it more productively worshipping your new found messiah who presently inhabits the White House?

Newsman is one of those elitist snobs who believes Christians have no real sense of humor and when they do express their cutting-edge humor on a PARODY WEBSITE (a humor far less venomous and full of hate as the “humor” that has been vomitting from the mouths of those on his side of the aisle for the last eight years) he get’s his panties all twisted in self-righteous indignation!
    The Emily Latilla Presidency.

It’s amazing how many times Mr. Obama has backtracked on his mendacious campaign promises regarding wiretaps, GITMO, rendition camps, and Iraq yet his true believers still think he’s messiah! If he keeps on upholding President Bush’s policies Obamessiah just might not be as fast at snatching defeat from the jaws of victory in the war on terror as I originally thought he would.

The above link to a sermon by Keith Moore is a MUST SEE! It is about a 50 minute sermon but, the best part starts about 20 minutes in and is what I could never quite put into words about MOST of the left when they talk about “giving to the poor”.

Reverend Moore shows how these people are not after us giving to the poor rather us giving to THEM, and equates them to Judas and the other hypocrites of the day!

To beat the trolls to it, I have also coveted, and may even be tempted to do so in the future BUT, I can at least see through this sermon where I have been wrong and ADMIT to it!

How about you people that keep saying to give to the poor or try to tell everyone else where we should give our contributions to? Can you admit it?

Obama’s administration in a NUTshell! He, (and Michelle), “say” they want to make us “share” our pie with others that have less. Rev. Moore brilliantly points out that they, (the Obama’s”), REALLY want that “pie” for themselves!!!

PS: The sermon is from the middle of last year so he was not pointing at the Obama’s. That is me doing that, even though the Obama’s are convicted by GOD’s WORD through this sermon!!!

  • 14 upnorthlurkin // May 31, 2009 at 11:35 am

With this brilliant sentence; “It’s the job of the Senate Judiciary Committee to protect our Constitutional limits on ‘life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness’ to ensure that unwanted fetuses don’t usurp the rights which the Founders intended for post-umbilical citizens alone,” said Obama.
you’ve nailed the godless lib philosophy! Constitutional limits indeed! Bravo!

  • 16 Darthmeister // May 31, 2009 at 4:22 pm

    R.A.M.,

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, liberals love to define their “compassion” by how much they can empower government to levy confiscatory taxes in order to enlarge their welfare state. This represents one of the most egregious coercions known to man and is based on a completely falacious idea that government can be trusted to equitably divide the spoils without becoming corrupt itself. Since this type of “taxation compassion” is one of the major underpinnins of the Demoncrap Party, it has become one of the most corrupt political cults on the planet Earth. The sooner we can destroy this immoral and anti-American monstrosity and cast it upon the ashheap of history the sooner we will get back to making our constitutional republic more prosperous and enduring.

If I was a cynical person I would say the average liberal rather enjoys the spectacle of compelling other people to suffer the immoral idiocies of the left’s socialist collectivism – be it minorities becoming more dependent upon the State or conservatives having to pay more taxes for the privilege of putting the rope of fascist government around their neck.

  • 23 Ms RightWing, Ink // May 31, 2009 at 11:16 pm

Ooops. I am not used to Scott’s new listings.

I returned an e-mail to MNK about my disappearance for the last few weeks Part one was my explanation of my latest attempts of creating finances on e-bay:

If you want to buy my Reagan political badge go search e-bay

    Reagan–Bush Badge 1980 Detroit Convention

I need to raise $750 to buy a new computer to go into the photo restoration business. I already raised the $712 dollars for a new scanner. I am running out of material stuff to sell. My computer is hanging in there but is nearly 5 years old.

It isn’t cheap to be a capitalist. That is why nobody has seen me in weeks, I have been trying to make a new beginning for myself so I can get back to writing and shooting.

Now, back into the shadows. Sorry Scott, didn’t want to come toot my horn (though I did) But isn’t that what makes us who we are by refusing to wallow in poverty.

  • 24 Ms RightWing, Ink // May 31, 2009 at 11:25 pm

    PART TWO

    MNK then asked:
Blessings upon blessings upon your endeavors Ms RightWing. Other than bidding on your ebay sales, is there anything we can do to assist your efforts? And don’t be too proud or shy to let us know, I’m poverty stricken too, but I know someone who owns the cattle on a thousand hills!

    Then I replied:
    mindnumbed kid

I think you pretty well summed it up. It is tough out there, but that is sometimes when God can shine the most. The new Epson 750 Pro scanner was purchased cash, hands down. That is something I was surprised I was able to do, but it all came from cleaning out my rare books and photos.

Now all I have is things that will bring a few dollars here and there. On June 15th I will put my original Mickey Mouse watch and an antique Chocolate Pot on e-bay again. It didn’t bring my price the first time around.

Funny though, I haven’t missed a thing I have sold yet. Guess it paid to be a one time capitalist pig. My junk was money in the bank.

Just keep praying, I only have $600 more to go. I have managed to save a bit. You know, this is really short of miraculous because a year ago I couldn’t even afford to get my cat to the doctor.

I’m just holding on for the ride. But I do think I can do enough work under the table when this gets set up so I won’t have to eat dirt again. Life is still frugal, but not having a car with all the repairs and insurance helps a bit.

If you let me ramble on just a bit more, the truth is I had enough dough to take a trip that has been in my wish book for years. A vacation would be a flash in the pan. With this set-up I can invest for now. A vacation, as nice as it is, is not an investment.

‘Nuff said. Thanks for giving me a couple of minutes of your time. Just pray God will make a way. That is my game plan

I WILL TRY AND SAVE ENERGY NEXT TIME AND POST IN THE RIGHT SPOT. THANKS TO THE SCRAPPLER WHO PUT ME ON THE RIGHT ROAD.

Anyhow that is where I have been hiding. This endeavor is a full time energy burner.

Further thoughts on #19, before the trolls burst in.

Is there anything odd about the fact that the last rash of similar attacks occurred during the last pro-abortion administration, in 1993, 1994 and 1998, with none during the entire pro-life Bush administration?

It’s probably just a result of the far better security we enjoyed under President Bush keeping domestic terrorists in check, but it’s hard to ignore echoes of the Reichstag Fire Decree or Nero’s Urban Renewal scapegoats.

    WHERE’S THE BIRTH CERTIFICATE?

Without the long form birth certificate showing the name of the hospital and the name of the attending Doctor, who delivered him; we’ve been scammed and instead of a President, we have a very successful usurper who is currently residing rent free in government housing @ 1600 Pennsylvania Ave., Wash. I see you are reading Pravda now. It is good to see that your mind is not closed to everybody who disagrees with you all the time. Is it just when it serves your purpose, or tells the lie you wish to propagandize?

If not, perhaps you can also agree that another article in the same edition is also worthy of consideration.

    The United States of Torture

“The sadism that led to the torture policies of George W. Bush can be traced back to his days as governor of the execution crazed state of Texas, where he signed over one hundred and fifty death warrants and contemptuously mocked inmates, like Karla Fay Tucker, who were scheduled for execution, while at the same time routinely denying petitions for DNA tests that could have exonerated wrongfully convicted prisoners.”

Yours in the interest of an open and balanced response.

    boberin,

As so many recent events have served to illustrate Right-Wing Nutjobs and guns are a vicious combination.

Defensive possession and use of firearms is a legitimate and protected right.

But, as we can sadly see by the events of the past weekend, these people go well beyond self-defense. They seek to protect others from their own decisions, and to do so by making decisions for them.

In addition to the issue of abortion, we can see similar behavior in our international dealings under a “Conservative” administration of their choosing.

We have sought to impose our values in the middle east in an arrogant attempt to bring Neo-Con Democracy to Iraq, and elsewhere.

Since they are people of action and not words, they have sought to convince the world of their own righteousness at the point of a gun.

Contrary to Cheney’s bizarre dreams, people don’t throw flowers at conquering armies. We have not “liberated” Iraq, only changed dictators. It should not be a surprise that they prefer one of their own people. But, thus far we have been unable to find a George Washington there.

There will be no statue to commemorate the American lives lost in “liberating” Iraq, and there will be no statue of George W. Bush in place of Saddam’s statue.

There WAS NO ACTIVE WMD PROGRAM! There were NO WEAPONS OF MASS DESTRUCTION IN IRAQ! There was NO AL-QAEDA CONNECTION!

Yet,Wing-Nuts remain convinced that they should be allowed to criticize the actions of the current administration, as though it was not their president who has brought our nation to the brink of bankruptcy, in the same way Neo-Cons are ideologically and morally bankrupt.

Wow, you must be a regular reader to have the whole issue so readily at hand! Good work; do you read it in translation?

In any case, I’d put more stock in a ?????? article about something familiar to its readers — the inevitable failure of Marxism, for instance — than in one about which they know very little (and much of which is untruth). It’s a bit like going to an actor for a political opinion, or to a community organizer for business advice.
