There’s a big difference between now and the 1930’s that Ayn Rand wrote about. In Rand’s day the government was growing ever more powerful, appropriating property from the producers to give to the non-producers (as Rand saw it). She wondered what would happen if the producers, i.e., the capitalists, i.e., “Atlas” shrugged.
Today, Atlas (in the form of the financial industry) controls the government, claiming that if he fails, so too will the government, which is a part of the world he carries on his shoulders. He and the government are in collusion to effectuate the same transfer as before, i.e., take from the producers and give to the non-producers, but this time the producers are the taxpayers and the non-producers are the government and its overseer, the financial industry. But the real Atlas here is the taxpayers. What happens if they shrug?

I sent an e-mail with a pic of a lady at a pistol range, firing at a silhouette target. Wearing a T-Shirt with a message. A few replied that they could not read the wording.
Evidently photo quality was lost in e -mail (mine reads perfect) but the wording is as follows:
“Gun Control: The theory that a woman found dead in an alley, raped and strangled with her own pantyhose, is somehow morally superior to a woman explaining to police how her attacker got that fatal bullet wound.”

Much more likely is this one “rapist shoots woman with her own gun” but I’ll admit that I’ve seen neither.

Woman Shoots Would-be Rapist
Uneasy after a man asked to use her phone, a Springfield, Missouri, woman told him to use the one at a local convenience store. Suspicious, she got a pistol and put it nearby. A little later, expecting guests, she unlocked her front door, and the stranger entered. He threatened her with a knife and forced her to undress, but she was able to get her gun by claiming she had to use the bathroom. She was then able to fire at the would-be rapist, wounding him.
He fled, but was quickly apprehended.

bya #7 – Thank you. You make a valid observation.
You just reminded me of my years in St. Pete, FL (laws are vastly different between Michigan and Florida) I worked as night mgr of a 24 hr. grocery store. I carried a .45 auto in a shoulder holster, a Charter Arms .44 Spec in a small of the back holster. (In 4 1/2 years I never had a problem – everybody knew I was armed, groc in next block was held up three times.)
I had numerous ladies ask what pistol I would recommend? I ALWAYS answered “None”. I would explain….”You will not collect lead wheel weights, melt them and cast your own bullets; reloading cartridges so you can shoot at less than 2 cents per round. You cannot afford to buy commercial cartridges. Additionally, you will not fire at the Police Pistol range (as I do) 60 – 65 thousand rounds a year for five years (as I have).
You will not invest what is necessary to be qualified to carry a pistol. So my advice is to get an empty spray bottle (like “409″) fill it with ammonia, set the nozzle on “stream” and carry it in a ‘tote’ bag everywhere you go.
Without competence, a gun is more often a handicap than a help. Since it also requires the mental preparedness necessary to actually fire the thing.

To all you Scrapplers who are now making over $250,000.00 a year:
What an outrage it is, that your taxes will be returning to the rate they where before Dumbyah and the Repugs decided to give you a tax cut on the backs of our children. The same children, for whom you have so recently discovered your great concern!
As someone making under $250,000.00 a year, I will be happy to accept your money in my own tax cut. I like that alot, and I especially like it that you don’t!
I am sure that none of you “Tea Baggers”, will be accepting any increase in your net income by way of this outrage.
I ask you to reconsider this position. Remember, the Repug Party now has a much smaller base, so your contribution will have to be larger.
In addition, please remember the many wing-nut demigods like “Boss Hog”, over at EIB, who will be happy to take all the cash they can glom onto.
So leave your guns at the bunkhouse, try not to do anything really stupid, and have a nice party.

I resemble those remarks!
Abortion, me and mine have never/will never avail ourselves of that “right”, don’t beleive it to be a viable alternative (20 y/o unlarried pregnant daughter recently returned to our home). But, the majority of those having such things are not good as parents and/or would not be able to properly care for such things which would add mightily to the suffering on the planet. When there are no orphanages because the “rightgeous” have adopted all available children then we can discuss banning the practice.
Homosexuality…can’t imagine the attraction of the idea/practice but I have no business telling others how they should “feel”…please refer to the dictionary, look up the word “freedom”. I thought this country was all about freedom and the pursuit thereof.
Redistribution of wealth…the tax rate was 90% on those that we propose to raise the surrent rate from 26 to 29%…the redistribution has already taken place, we want to re-re-distribute some back where it belongs…please refer to the Beatles song…”Tax Man” wherein they describe frustration at the 95% tax rate they somehow endured. I don’t see any of them on the bread lines. CEO made 50 times workers some 20 years ago, now they make 350 times as much…if that’s “fair” on your planet…I don’t care to visit. No one you know makes that kind of money, you never, ever will and yet you choose to defend those folks as though they were one of your own. You’ve been “had” people…and those folks are mighty glad of it.

Come to think of it, the last part makes perfect sense. If you can justify America sucking up 50% of the worlds resources for our enjoyment (clearly at the cost to those without resources) then people using you and your labor for personal gain makes perfect sense and must be defended…because you either defend both or neither.

I went to reconnoiter the Tea Party location here in Arlington TX this morning about 0830. The local gendarmes already had their spy tower erected and “unmarked” cars were evident here and there. They were actually painting the lines at the light where you turn in as I drove in. A bunch of high school-age kids had painted the entrance over the weekend.
I take this kind of stuff very seriously, I hope the other 500 do, too. Somehow, I don’t think I’ll be disappointed.

Arlington Texas Tea Party Etiquette:
A tea party can be and is usually an elegant affair. That is why napkin etiquette is as important for your tea party as it is for a formal dinner.
As each guest arrives, they will be seated and politely wait for other guests to arrive and also be seated. Once all the guests have arrived, the hostess will be seated. At that time, she will remove the napkin from the table and place it on her lap.
When you have finished with your tea and meal, you should place your napkin to the right of the plate on the table. If for some reason you need to leave the table, you should place your napkin on your seat until you return.
When the tea party is over, the hostess will place her napkin on the table. At that time you should fold your napkin in half or quarters and neatly place it on the table. It does not need to be folded as neatly as the way that you found it at the beginning of the tea but it should not crumpled or balled up either.
**If your tea is formal you should use cloth napkins. Elegant paper napkins are fine for less formal tea parties.

Their major error is in having been suckered into believing that he too is a Marxist, unaware (or unwilling to accept) that not only is he not a Marxist but I think he sees himself as the physical reincarnation of the Pharaoh of Egypt. He will put them under his heel of world dominion just as quickly as he is doing with Amerika and will do with all Islamic Countries.
I believe that Jesus will intervene and the Battle of Armageddon will be fought before he is successful.

There were at least 500 at the 1630 start time; attendance more than doubled within 45 minutes and continued to grow. It was a wonderful, edifying experience. Three satellite feeds.
Arlington PD made a dramatic show of force with 40-50 officers in squad cars and motorcycles ringing the area and several fire trucks and several ambulances, even the dog catcher, and, of course, the obligatory hovering helicopter. Surveillance cameras scanned from countless locations and fed to command central, located under a really nice oak tree, manned by MIB.
Every demographic was represented. I walked away a very proud man.

Repug arguements are always the same.
It is forever about some vague thing that can not be measured, except by the propagandist holding the scale. Something to which you all nod your head knowingly, even though you really have no clue. Then it is joined with some inarguable religious, or patriotic platitude so you folks can nod your head, pretend to understand, and remember with enough repetition.
Examples: “Harry Truman was different from today’s Democrats”.
Harry Truman was a “New Deal” Democrat right out of the FDR mold!
Harry was as likely to seize control of a corporation (i.e. Steel Mills) as he was to break union strikes (i.e. Railroad Unions). If either threatened the vital interest of our nation in time of war.
“John Kennedy was different from today’s Democrats”.

See Teddy? Remember Bobby? Jack was like them! They were rich men who believed they had a debt to America, and to their fellow men for the blessings which had been bestowed on them! And for the success of Fitz’s rum running, when Conservatives of that day created a market for them by outlawing booze!
