(2002-12-17) — McDonald’s Corporation, which announced today it would post its first loss in history, placed the blame for the business slump on the Bush administration.
“When Bill Clinton was president,” said a spokesman, “we could always count on news pictures of him at McDonald’s. It was free advertising. He used the ‘bully pulpit’ to promote this great American institution. But since George Bush was elected, we’ve fallen off the front page.”
The company plans to support Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-NYArk, when she runs for president in 2008.
“We’re betting that the first hubby will be in the news again, bellying up to the counter for a Big Mac,” the spokesman said.
