Obama Plan Has Already Boosted IRS Tax Collections

by Scott Ott for ScrappleFace · 55 Comments · · Print This Story Print This Story

(2009-01-31) — In office less than two weeks, President Barack Obama has already increased tax receipts at the U.S. Treasury with an innovative plan to get tax-dodgers to pay up, in full, immediately.

“The president’s plan is simple but ingenious,” said White House spokesman Robert Gibbs, “He targets wealthy individuals who filed inaccurate tax forms, cheating the government out of tens of thousands of dollars. Then he just nominates them for cabinet positions. They suddenly see the error of their ways, and they cut checks for the full amount owed, plus interest.”

In the month of January alone, Mr. Obama has forced Timothy Geithner, former president of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, to cough up $43,000 he owed the IRS, and former Sen. Tom Daschle to pay off his $128,000 tax obligation. Mr. Geithner will put his tax-paying experience to good use, overseeing the IRS as Secretary of the Treasury. Mr. Daschle hopes his recently-good behavior will garner Senate confirmation as the next Secretary of the Health and Human Services.

“With the IRS underfunded as it is,” said Mr. Gibbs, “this collection method is much more efficient than dispatching field agents. Arresting these men, or compelling them to pay penalties would take years, and make them feel bad about themselves. The president’s method not only gets more money to the government to help our economy, but provides a self-esteem boost by giving these wealthy men important-sounding titles.”

The Obama administration will reportedly expand the program by creating hundreds, perhaps thousands, of additional cabinet posts, available to any rich person willing to “fess up and settle up” with the IRS.

Excellent point, Scott. People must bear this in mind before accusing Obama of partisanship; he’ll start appointing Republicans once he’s run out of tax cheats.

Perfect. Since Obama is expanding government intrusion in our lives through his Generational Theft Porkopulus Plan, more people will be on the D.C. payroll to serve Present-dent Government’s make-work bureaucracies.

BTW Is it the Pentagon/DoD that he expects to trim its budget by 10 billion? I just want to be sure that I understand his priorities per the Constitution.

The Boy King has surrounded himself with appointmentees that do not require Senate confirmation. These are the puppeteers, the latest being Samantha Power, that will tell him what to do in this shadow government while the Cabinet figureheads will be the focus of the fawning media. Obama will remain cool…or warm, depending on where he sets the temperature guage..

Maybe OB1 can help out his bro with his newly discovered powers. Let the borschtObama’s Kenyan half-brother arrested on charge of marijuana possession

    ******************************************************

By TOM ODULA | Associated Press Writer
    9:08 AM EST, January 31, 2009

NAIROBI, Kenya (AP) — The half-brother of President Barack Obama was arrested for alleged possession of marijuana on Saturday near his home in a Nairobi shantytown, police said.

George Obama, who is in his 20s and barely knows the president, had one joint of marijuana on him, said Joshua Omokulongolo, the police chief in the area.

“He is not a drug peddler,” Omokulongolo told The Associated Press. “But it’s illegal, it’s a banned substance.”

George Obama has a court appearance scheduled Monday morning.

He and the president have the same father, who died in a car crash in 1982.

Several of President Obama’s Kenyan relatives went to Washington, D.C., for his inauguration, but George was not among them. He lives in Huruma with extended family.

Media reports about him surfaced over the summer, after a magazine article said he lived in a shack and earned a dollar a day. George Obama has called the reports insulting.

“I’m proud of how I live,” he told The Associated Press in an interview over the summer. “(The media) are tarnishing the family name.” be with you.

And there’s more, Scott. From Powerlineblog: Corruption, Democrat Style:

As a life-long politician, Tom Daschle never earned much money. But he retired from the Senate, after being defeated for re-election by John Thune, as a multimillionaire. He retired to Georgetown, of course, not to South Dakota. This happens a lot in Washington, and Daschle’s case is pretty typical.

His wife Linda is or was a lobbyist, and she was the one who reported the family’s income. (This is inference, since Daschle consistently chose not to make his tax returns public.) Linda Daschle made millions “lobbying” on behalf of various corporate interests. There was no conflict of interest, the Democrats assured us, because Linda Daschle only “lobbied” the House of Representatives, not the Senate, where her husband was either the Majority or the Minority Leader for much of his career.

But wait! If a company hired Linda to lobby House members, the check they wrote went straight into the Senate Majority Leader’s joint checking account. It would have been a felony to write the check to Tom in exchange for political services, but a check to Linda, that went into the same bank account? No problem! She wasn’t lobbying the Senate! So Tom Daschle became a multimillionaire.

What’s amazing to me is when it was pointed out that Daschle’s wife was a lobbyist lobbying Congress while he served in the Senate, the Democrats whined that this didn’t represent a conflict of interest nor did it amount to the influence peddling. Why? Because he was a Democrat and Democrats said it didn’t, that’s why.

Republicans with the same arrangement would have been skewered and tarred and feathered by the national socialist media. Welcome to Barack Obama’s America of “change”, where being a Democrat tax dodger can be easily fixed with an “amended tax return”, a scenario that is orders of magnitude above Joe the Plumber who was hatefully savaged by the left when he dared pry out of The One that wealth is something to be “spread around” by force of government.

Yes, the culture of corruption lives on quite happily in the Demoncrat Party.

Scott Ott – Another Winner! Thank you.

There’s always something good to be said about everybody. The ultimate good to be said about the Socialist Democrats and our ‘always with us’ RINOs is that they do such a splendid job of making us Conservatives look so very good.

(Actually they do such a grand job that they end up making us look a lot better than we really are).

They also make us look so wondrously intelligent. I know that I’m not the sharpest knife in the drawer but next to ‘Dingy Harry’ and Funny Frank and others of their ilk, I’m a veritable Einstein, Edison and Aristotle all rolled into one. As is equally true of each and every Scrappler.

Trolls of course aren’t scrapplers, they’re just, well…….trolls. For anyone still reading their comments – they too, like Reid, Pelosi and Funny Frank serve their purpose in making us look oh so good.

Perhaps a “Thank You” card to the Socialists in Comgress is in order?

  • 11 Darthmeister // Jan 31, 2009 at 10:31 am

BTW, here’s what the national socialist media was forced to report about the tax dodging Daschle. I thought Biden and the Democrats were earlier claiming that joyfully paying ones rightful tax burden was patriot? I guess Mr. Daschle is an “amended patriot”, eh?

WASHINGTON D.C. – Former Sen. Tom Daschle, picked by President Barack Obama to lead the administration’s health reform efforts, recently filed amended tax returns to report $128,203 in unpaid taxes and $11,964 in interest, according to a Senate document obtained by The Associated Press.

The White House acknowledged Friday that “some tax issues” had emerged in connection with the nomination, but a spokesman said the president is confident the former Senate Democratic leader will be confirmed as the new health secretary.

Daschle filed amended tax returns for 2005, 2006 and 2007 to reflect additional income for consulting work, the use of a car service and reductions in charitable contribution deductions. He filed the returns after the announcement that Obama intended to nominate him to head the Health and Human Services Department.

  • 12 Darthmeister // Jan 31, 2009 at 10:33 am

Sheesh, that’s “paying ones rightful tax burden was patriotic?”

A day without Scott Ott is like a day without Rush Limbaugh or a day without Mark Steyn. All are necessary minimum daily requirements for sanity in the through-the-looking-glass world or Obama-Pelosi-Reid and et.

Good one, Red Pepper. That flinty Chicagoan marring the office of the POTUS with a Hawaiian climate is but a wuss in designer suits, relying on Astroturfers led by Axelrod and fish-knife wielders like Emanuel to enforce his Chavez-like cult of personality. Obama sheds his jacket to subliminally imply that he has “some skin in the game”.

Every morning I wake up stimulated to expose the hypocrisy and criminality of the Dem machine-regime.

  • 14 onlineanalyst // Jan 31, 2009 at 10:49 am

Darth: Doesn’t the behavior of Daschle and Geithner reinforce the idea that they both would have continued in their tax-scofflaw ways had they not been chosen to serve THE ONE?

Apparently Dems don’t understand that character means doing the right thing when no one is looking.

  • 15 Darthmeister // Jan 31, 2009 at 12:15 pm

It sure sounds that way, onlineanalyst.

    From Marine Captain Tom:

    Hank,
Here’s another. This came up in conversation at the office today. It’s very difficult to determine whether this really happened or not. But the pilots I work with believe that this occurred. Possible. Either way, funny.

    According to a Marine Pilot:
In addition to communicating with the local Air Traffic Control facility, all aircraft in the Persian Gulf AOR are required to give the Iranian Air Defense Radar (military) a ten minute ‘heads up’ if they will be transiting Iranian airspace. This is a common procedure for commercial aircraft and involves giving them your call sign, transponder code, type
aircraft, and points of origin and destination.

I just flew with a guy who overheard this conversation on the VHF Guard (emergency) frequency 121.5 MHz while flying from Europe to Dubai . It’s too good not to pass along. The conversation went something like this…

Air Defense Radar: ‘Unknown aircraft at (location unknown), you are in Iranian airspace. Identify yourself.’

Aircraft: ‘This is a United States aircraft. I am in Iraqi airspace.’

Air Defense Radar: ‘You are in Iranian airspace. If you do not depart our airspace we will launch interceptor aircraft!’

Aircraft: ‘This is a United States Marine Corps FA-18 fighter. Send ‘em up, I’ll wait!’

Air Defense Radar: (no response, radio statis … total silence)

    Semper Fi

The Marines – your best friend or your worst enemy. Thank a Marine next time you see one.

Oh, btw. Obamessiah has now admitted that he doesn’t have an economic miracle in his bag of tricks big enough to fix the economy in anything short of YEARS … not months, not a year, but years. By that time just about any free market economy will in essence, fix itself, but I guess this is the kind of “change” we can expect from The Selected One. The national socialist media are still throwing palm branches before him as he walks by their microphones.

RAM, liberals just hate it when enterprising and fair-minded people like us take a page right out of their playbook and turn it right back on them. I mean, it’s only fair, right? We’re treating Mr. Obama faaaaaar better than they ever treated George W. It’s pretty apparent that they simply can’t stand looking into a mirror of their own making!

Now we’re the nattering nabobs? Buwahahahahaha … that’s what these Obamatons were for seven freaking years! But the important difference is this, we don’t have to engage in whacko conspiracy theories or cunning partisan lies to tarnish their precious messiah – savior of America and the whole world – we just have to tell the truth, the truth that even the national socialist media prefers to ignore as they genuflect before their MOTUS.

As I’ve stated before, to get a conservative mad, tell him/her a lie, to get a liberal mad tell him/her/it the truth.

Ahmadinejad has given his response to Obama, whom he obviously views as a weak horse. There is a great discussion by some knowledgeable people, concerning shifts in world balance-of-power and various world powers’ perception of Obama at this site. Essentially, we will be the losers, abandoned by allies who will no longer trust us and threatened by hostile forces that recognize weakness, if Obama continues in his naive path.

One of the links in it ties to a commentary by George Soros in The Financial Times. It appears that Obama is the puppet in Soros’s manipulative fingers. Bought and paid for, Obama is doing his master’s bidding…and America will be the loser in our economy and in our national security.
