(2009-01-16) — As part of his effort to smooth the transition for his successor, President George Bush today offered to “pre-pardon” Barack Obama’s choice for Treasury Secretary to clear the way for Timothy Geithner’s approval by the Senate.
Concerns about Mr. Geithner’s failure to pay self-employment taxes for several years pose a potential embarrassment for the incoming Obama administration. If the Senate endorses him as Treasury Secretary, it could set up the awkward spectacle of the man who leads the IRS ordering an audit of his own tax history.
“Bush has offered to write the pardon now,” said the source, “leaving the date line blank for President Obama to fill in once Geithner has been convicted. That way, Obama can blame Bush for the pardon, and still keep his Treasury Secretary.”

Alas! Unfortunately, there is no potential for embarrassment since that would imply the presence of a conscience which would imply the presence of the Holy Spirit.
I hate to say it but I only observe the slipperiness of a pragmatist and the potential logical conclusions; none of which involves a group hug and the singing of Kumbaya.

God Bless America

This sounds like a workable plan. Now if we could figure out a way for Obama to nominate imprisioned border agents Ramos and Compean for cabinet posts, then maybe Bush might pardon them?
3 RepublicanAttackMachine // Jan 16, 2009 at 9:33 am
I especially like your last line, “That way, Obama can blame Bush for the pardon, and still keep his Treasury Secretary.”
I believ that is why Obama he asked Bush to release the other 350 billion to the banks NOW, so he can “blame Bush” later!
Am I the only one who noticed that Bank of America has already got their paws on the first of the second bailout funds?
Remember they are the ones who gave credit cards to illegal aliens, and told people that complained about it, where to go.
Now our tax dollars are helping them. Makes my blood boil!

Team Obama has reportedly rejected the offer, asking instead that President Bush order Parker Brothers to print an unspecified number of gilded “Get Out Of Responsibility Free” cards to be used by the Obama White House and the leadership of the House and Senate according to guidelines which have not been (and probably won’t be) revealed.
Having been promised the contract to print the new series of US currency, Parker Brothers is expected to comply enthusiastically.

The thing that gets me about this whole Tim Geithner thing is that he used to work for the IMF and the whole world knows about it. I thought it was supposed to be a secret, that even their communiques self-destructed to hide their motives, and protect the organization. If we can’t trust him to keep such a secret, how can we trust him to run the treasury?

I knew the answer was out there someplace. It just had to be. algore must have found it first then when B.O. (the usurper) saw how well it worked, he figured, “Why not?”
Of all places, I found it in Ripley’s “Believe It Or Not”.
Skamania County, Wash., USA Ordinance 69 – 01 details penalties for harming a SASQUATCH a mythical beast whose existence has never been confirmed.
And so algore (who, by the way, invented the internet) invented the cult of “Manmade Global Warming” (“a mythical beast whose existence has never been confirmed”)
Well, boy howdy did it ever work to the tune of billions and billions of dollars (trillions anyone?)
Well when B.O. observed algore’s success, he must have opined, “Well, as a ‘natural born’ American Citizen (whose existence has never been confirmed) I can copy-cat this and with my trick of subliminal hypnosis I can create my own cult.”
And so the “Natural born American Citizen” (whose existence has never been confirmed) will be sworn in on Jan. 20th 2009 as the 44th President of these United States.
I believe that just as algore’s hoax is coming apart at the seams, so too will the usurpers hoax. and like a certain peanut farmer will be a one term babysitter of the Office of the President.

Perhaps we can come up with some type of scoring system for President Barack H-word Obama administration’s blunders, which are sure to be plentiful. Maybe adopt a version similar to Major League Baseball’s in which the error is coded as an ‘E’ and then the position number of the player that committed the error. (e.g. E1 is the pitcher, E2 is the catcher, etc.) Except in this scenario, E1 would be Barack H-word Obama, E2 would be Joseph Robinette Biden, E3 would be Nancy Patricia Pelosi, and so on down the line of succession.

just in from that well known liberal publication…National Geographic. If these folks aren’t just a “tool” of the “liberal media” then who/what is?
• Average temperatures have climbed 1.4 degrees Fahrenheit (0.8 degree Celsius) around the world since 1880, much of this in recent decades, according to NASA’s Goddard Institute for Space Studies.
• The rate of warming is increasing. The 20th century’s last two decades were the hottest in 400 years and possibly the warmest for several millennia, according to a number of climate studies. And the United Nations’ Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) reports that 11 of the past 12 years are among the dozen warmest since 1850.
• The Arctic is feeling the effects the most. Average temperatures in Alaska, western Canada, and eastern Russia have risen at twice the global average, according to the multinational Arctic Climate Impact Assessment report compiled between 2000 and 2004.
• Arctic ice is rapidly disappearing, and the region may have its first completely ice-free summer by 2040 or earlier. Polar bears and indigenous cultures are already suffering from the sea-ice loss.
• Glaciers and mountain snows are rapidly melting—for example, Montana’s Glacier National Park now has only 27 glaciers, versus 150 in 1910. In the Northern Hemisphere, thaws also come a week earlier in spring and freezes begin a week later.
• Coral reefs, which are highly sensitive to small changes in water temperature, suffered the worst bleaching—or die-off in response to stress—ever recorded in 1998, with some areas seeing bleach rates of 70 percent. Experts expect these sorts of events to increase in frequency and intensity in the next 50 years as sea temperatures rise.
• An upsurge in the amount of extreme weather events, such as wildfires, heat waves, and strong tropical storms, is also attributed in part to climate change by some experts.
Conclusion: global warming is a hoax and George Bush was the greatest president the world has seen/will ever see.
Would someone here lend me their rose colored glasses please? I’m gonna need em

Global Warming Derangement Syndrome can be comical.
43 Left Coast-Right Mind // Jan 17, 2009 at 2:55 pm
One of the many treasures of the Tarnished Golden State is Yosemite National Park. On the western slope of the Sierra Nevada mountain range, this haven of natural beauty would not have been possible without Global Warming. You see, it is estimated that about one million years ago glaciers started forming and reached an ice thickness of about 4,000 feet. These walls of ice carved their way through solid granite rock, and when the earth warmed up, several millennia later, of nature’s own accord (no SUVs, no coal-fired power plants, no aerosol cans, etc.) the glaciers melted and left behind stunning vistas and exquisite monuments of stone and water, that are enjoyed by as many as 3.5 million people every year.
So…let’s hear it for Global Warming!
44 Darthmeister // Jan 17, 2009 at 3:44 pm
Global Warming has my applause, LC-RM. Without it most of the mid-west would still be under 2000 feet of ice. Thank God that SUVs were originally invented 10,000 years ago, which in turn spared our planet an icy hell. It’s pretty obvious that Cro-Magnon must have acquired such transportation technology from illegal space aliens but fortunately that technology was lost before our planet turned into another greenhouse planet like Venus.
btw, NASA has announced the discovery or rising carbon dioxide and methane levels on Mars which some dummy McDoofus claims is a result of solar activity that has also affected Earth during the same time period. Of course anyone who embraces the greenhouse gospel of Saint al Gore really understands the rising levels of these greenhouse gases is a direct result of a growing bovine and infernal combustion engine population on Mars. Sheesh!

RAM,
I seem to remember the liberal rent-a-ranters railing against the “excesses” of the 2004 Bush inauguration … and that during a time of relative economic stability and prosperity. Of course that’s was before the Democrats took over Congress and started us down the road toward the Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac meltdown.
Given how the national socialist media has thoroughly inculcated the American people with the dire economic straits all Americans are suffering, isn’t it ironic that there hasn’t been a single peep from liberals (who care oh so much for the homeless, inner city poor and other economically “disadvantaged” Americans, right?) about the exorbitant costs of the coming Obama worship-fest along with the $680 million it took to buy the election in the first place?
Of course liberals have always been extremely adroit at demonstrating their utter hypocrisy and double-standards on just about any issue and the cost of Obama’s coronation festivies appear to be no exception. Of course Chris “Tingle-down-my-leg” Matthews and Keith “Chief moonbat” Olbermann will make fine court jesters at the festivities so it may actually be worth a $100 million to see these two clowns in full fawning rant … almost.
46 Darthmeister // Jan 17, 2009 at 4:50 pm
“To anger a conservative, tell him a lie … to anger a kook liberal, tell him the truth.”
The liberal, seeing the rich man and his fine home, says: ‘No man should have so much’. The conservative, seeing the same says: ‘All men should have so much’.
“A government big enough to give you everything you want is big enough to take everything you have.” – Thomas Jefferson
And that is the difference between us and the barking moonbat socialists who populate the Democratic Party.

Sure Darth, that’s all the Democrats fault ! What was the Bush administration doing during this time to prevent economic meltdown – standing with their fingers you know where.
The real truth is that ‘they/we are all friggin responsible’ for failing to insist that our politicians meet their obligations to all of us.
Nobody gets off the hook here !
Take some friggin responsibility Darth. You are a big boy now !
There is something lacking in those who blame problems on everybody else and act like they had nothing at all to do with what was happening.

65 Darthmeister // Jan 18, 2009 at 10:56 am
Newsman, quit cherrypicking my record in order to pick a fight. I’ve been very clear here, the financial meltdown has any number of culprits starting with greed on Wall Street as well as Mainstreet, Allan Greenspan’s economic policies, RINOs disguised as “compassionate conservatives” (i.e. big spending, blue-blood Republicans) deregulation of the mortgage industry first with the Clinton Administration and to a lesser degree the Bush Administration, and Democrats and Democrats themselves.
What I’m not really hearing from you and the national socialist media is the extent to which Democrats – particularly Chris Dodd, Barney Fwank, Maxine Waters, Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi, et al – had a very direct hand in creating the Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac financial debacle which in turn began America’s economic meltdown exacerbated by the liberal media’s partisan misinformation campaign which attempted to pin this all on President Bush.
The shoe is on the other foot, in this case, since I’ve NEVER heard from you any kind of assent that the Bush Administration (and John McCain) did indeed warn of the FM/FM meltdown and the looming credit crisis – not just once, but at least on eight different occasions. Also, the Democrat’s culpability in all this is a matter of C-Span video record which can be found on YouTube – many links have I already posted here.
And what was the Bush Administration doing, you ask? You could have easily found that out yourself if you weren’t such a pointy-headed Bush-hating hack. There are any number of Internet links which clearly DOCUMENTED the Bush Administration’s warnings to Congress about the coming financial meltdown. The only constitutional means available to the President, my dear troll, would have been to act unilaterally (which your side of the aisle has ALWAYS railed against) by issuing an unprecedented executive order which would have wrested oversight of the mortgage industry from the Congress (to the Democrats’ certain primal scream that Bush was acting like Hitler blah, blah, blah, by usurping legislative powers blah, blah, blah) and then to have attempted to “fix” the economy.
The clear fact of the matter is this, Congressional Democrats refused to listen to the Bush Administration thus further imperiling the national economy and once they gained control of Congress in 2006-07 they pretty much said everything President Bush would send up their way was dead-on-arrival. Yet, despite this evidence, you still prefer to publicly display your almost mindless and transparent Bush-hatred by railing in the manner that you did in comment #47.
Tsk, tsk, tsk. Go look in a mirror, Newsman, you’re the one not dealing with a full deck here and are being the partisan hack. We have virtually the entire national socialist media and the Democratic Party trying to blame President Bush for the very thing that the Congress has unique oversight responsibility for – the mortgage industry vis a vis Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.
And yes, there were long term financial policies (Allan Greenspan and regulatory Congressional big spenders) that were percolating beneath the surface, but there is little doubt the sub-prime loan debacle, compliments of the Carter Administration and further exacerbated by the Clinton Administration (in their misguided notion that wouldn’t it be cool if every American were able to get cheap loans to own homes they really couldn’t afford), was the central catalyst of the present financial meltdown which has now spooked Wall Street.
Quit cherrypicking my views in hopes of legitimizing your braindead rants. It won’t work here.

BTW, in accordance with some other Scrappleface observations, wouldn’t you think sourpuss neverthink would be all unicorns, rainbows, and pretty flowers because his messiah will soon be coronated?
Yet neverthink persists in trying to find misfortune in the joy of others or suffering because of the joy of others – us. I’m convinced this creature simply isn’t happy unless he’s being a hateful contrarian and going out of his way to rain on other people’s parades. Must be a pretty miserable existence and thus his continuance here.
We visit Scrappleface because we enjoy Scott Ott’s humor and his righteous and witty perspective on the world. By contrast neverthink comes here because he/she/it is most certainly psychologically damaged and wants to spread the personal misery he/she/it suffers on a daily basis. I believe the term is “freudenschade”.
After the elevation of the empty suit Obama to MOTUS, we Scrapplers will still be here cracking jokes and making rather pungent observations about the derangement of those who found salvation in Barack Hussein Obama!
I still tremble for my country given the damage these closet socialists may do to America. However, when I think how these socialist meatheads have been able to buy their way into a power monopoly by the likes of George Soros, illegal foreign donations, and the rest of the monied fat cat liberals, there is a level of hypocrisy that liberal Democrats have blatantly engaged in after having whined about “the money in politics” and power monopolies. Which goes to prove: Liberals really don’t mind liars, incompetent ideologues, wars and bad economies just so long their liars are the ones in power!
Hopefully, in another three years, Americans will have come to their senses and realize how they’ve been bought by a $680 million dollar campaign of half-truths and clever liberal media sponsored lies.
Until then, let’s party and continue being a burr under the saddle to self-righteous, pointy-headed, we’re-always-right liberals.

Gore: Record Cold Snap Is Actually Global Warming
By William Kevin Stoos Sunday, January 18, 2009
Just back from a world tour to promote his new book, “No, Really, It Is Global Warming!” Internet inventor Al Gore talked to Stoos Views in an effort to address mounting world skepticism about global warming and whether Gore is indeed the savior of the planet. Stopping by Stoos Views headquarters in Wynstone, South Dakota, Gore talked to the reporter while lending a hand clearing the four feet of global warming off his driveway.
“To the uneducated and those, unlike myself, who are untrained in geography, climatology, physics, chemistry and astronomy,†Gore began, “it might appear that it has been unusually coldthese past few weeks. If you are like the vast majority of Americans who know nothing about science and are standing there in your four and five foot snow drifts, facing fifty below wind chills, and wondering about the thirty below temperatures from Wyoming to Vermont, and temperatures in the single digits in Georgia, you might say to yourself, ‘how can the winner of the Nobel Prize and Inventor of the Internet be so wrong’?â€
Gore continued, “Actually, these bone chilling record temperatures are perfectly consistent with global warming and exactly what I expected. This is what I call “Polar Displacement. …………….

I was in a local convienience store Thursday morning replenishing their supply of milk and my eye caught a glimpse of a magazine cover that turned out to be a “Collector’s Edition * 2009 Inauguration Special *”…
The front cover story is entitled “America’s Hope – Barack Obama – How He Will Change Our World, being immediately offended I stopped to read more of this drivel, trying to quickly identify the source, but seeing as how I was very time challenged and not easily finding the info I was seeking, I opted to purchase it for scrutiny at at later time. It was $5.99, I hated to spend my money to support a bunch of liberal leftists, but I wanted to see who published it. The answer to that question is Weider Publications,LLC a subsidiary of American Media, Inc.
Also on the cover, “U.S.A.’s Greatness Restored – Why You’ll Be Better Off Within A Year”, I have looked through the index of drivel and have yet to figure out which one of the entries tells me anything about that…
Then there is “The American Dream Realized – His Incredible Journey, is the American Dream becoming President? I never knew that was what it was all about, I guess most of us are incapable of ever achieving it.
Anyhow, it is not my kind of reading material, so if anyone else wants it stop in and it’s yours free of charge.

OB1Kanobi has already fleeced the poorest of the black community by allowing every two-bit skunk oil salesman to sell trinkets and baubles (made in China) with the likes of him, Lincoln and Kennedy on it.

New world record for Ming vase
(China Daily)
Updated: 2006-05-31 05:52
HONG KONG: A rare underglaze copper-red Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) vase sold for HK$78.52 million (US$10.13 million) in Hong Kong yesterday, setting a world auction record for Ming porcelain.
(for photo – dogpile ming vase and link with Wikipedia)
So on May 31st 2006 – this object of rare beauty was valued at $10.13 million dollars.
But a disgruntled servant was offended at the thought of all the poverty around her and throughout China, compared to the wasteful use of money that in her opinion should have gone to food and medical care for the hungry and sick children.
In a fit of pique she smashed the vase on the floor! It broke into hundreds of tiny pieces and all of the “Super Glue” and “Mighty Putty” in the hands of the world’s most skilled artisans could not restore the ming vase to it’s former perfection, beauty and value.
The day after tomorrow on the 20th of January, 2009 a former Junior Senator from the State of llinois – a Mr. Barack Hussein Obama – aka “The Usurper” will take up the role of the disgruntled Chinese servant and will do unto America what she did to the ming vase.
In the years that follow, the pieces of America will never be restored to their former perfection, beauty and value.
King David had his day as did King Solomon. King Ahab ruled his kingdom, The Mesopotamians, the civilizations of Akkad, Sumer, Babylonia, and Assyria. Alexander “The Great” had his heyday and so did “The Roman Empire” every schoolchild knows about “The Sun never sets on the British Empire” and now The United States of America, the greatest, most powerful nation in earth’s history is brought to her knees.
Not conquered by an outside superior country, but from within, a victim of cancer (aka – Complacency). The cancer of liberalism has eaten away the political body, until it’s now a basket case. In our pride of being tolerant – we failed to excise the cancer when it was small enough to have been removed – roughly from Franklin Delano Roosevelt to date.
The Christian America, settled by Christians, for Christians who were willing to risk everything to escape the abominations of Europe. It is evident that there were a few ‘moles’ planted on the Nina, the Pinta and the Santa Maria. These liberal cancer cells began incrementally working for tolerance until (it’s a slow process – but they know that) today we actually tolerate a religion whose avowed purpose is to kill us. We tolerate a takeover of the Democrat Party by a Socialistic (nee: Communistic) Party to put one of their own into the office of the President.
The Muslim extremists only want to kill us. By far and worse, the Socialist want to recreate the slavery of Joseph Stalin’s USSR (with them playing the role of Uncle Joe). The time has never been so ripe for our Messiah, Jesus Christ to pre-empt the current abomination aka “B.O. – the Usurper”. The seven years of revelation may well be upon us. Come quickly, Lord Jesus.

Do any of you people really know what ‘Democracy’ is about?
I don’t live in a Democracy, up until now it’s been a Constitutional Republic. After Tuesday January 21st, 2009, it will be a Non-Representative Thugocracy based upon, then, Senator Barack H-word Obama’s campaign rhetoric, the actions of his supporters and the machinations of Congress. And just what do you mean by “you people”?
You lose the election and you are all a bunch of sorry sobsisters and whiners!
Mr. Kettle I presume? Please allow me to introduce you to Mr. Pot. Now which side of the political spectrum is still belly-aching, griping and grousing over an election that happened eight years ago?
All you do is complain.
Not true. I firmly believe that Barack H-word Obama can be one the best things that’s happened to the United States of America (in the long run of course; the short-term is gonna be hell). Full-fledged liberalism will be center stage. Every single modern day liberal issue can be steamrolled through the legislative process without substantial opposition. Every left-wing power grab that has been foisted upon a populace, and failed miserably around the world, is potentially headed our way. My prediction is, when it is shown to be a failure here as well, liberalism will take its rightful place on the refuse pile of history. The trick will be making it through the tough times, and coming out the other side. So, in a way, Barack H-word Obama will be the best player on the conservative team.
Not a one of you is capable of looking at anything in a positive light.
I’m positive that Barack H-word Obama is going to be the next Jimmy Carter, not Roosevelt, not Kennedy, not Lincoln. Does that count? I mean, who doesn’t want to grow up to be like Jimmy Carter?
My word to all of you…….If you think this country is in such a sorry state then why don’t you have the b-lls to leave and find some better place to live.
I’ll take your word under advisement. However, please be advised that this line of reasoning has already been vilified by those railing against the “America: Love it or Leave it” crowd. So if we can’t use it, it’s dirty pool to steal it, bastardize it and lob it back.
Not a one of you has the ‘guts’, you just want to sit around and snicker making your sorry self serving complaining remarks.
And the celebretards that vowed to leave the country if George W. Bush was elected in 2000 or re-elected in 2004? Please provide links to your posts on their personal website forums pointing out their lack of ‘guts’ for not making good on their promises, and barking at them for their behavior over the last four to eight years.
I suppose each and every one of you believes that you can do a better job then [sic] Obama. Then put your money where your mouth is and run for office and prove it!
Find me a sugar daddy with George Soros-type money (might need $350 – $400 million by 2012), and a cult following that doesn’t need details interfering in their decision-making process and I’ll consider it.
Here’s a nickel’s worth of free advice. Phrases like “All of you”, “You all” and “You people” are inclusive of everyone who reads and/or comments on this site, so I’d like to take this opportunity to thank you for the personal attacks you instigated against me and my character. Secondly, words like “all”, “every”, “none”, etc. (unless mitigated somehow) are called ‘absolutes’. The dangerous thing about using absolutes in your arguments is that your debate opponent need find only one instance where the absolute doesn’t hold true, and your entire argument is discredited. So please, consider yourself discredited, because that’s how I’m scoring it here.

Sow the Wind, Reap the Whirlwind
After decades of 24/7 Hollywood – Washington-style media brainwashing, many have succumbed to a new brand of “marshmallow Christianity†that dares to pass as the real thing. We’ve got leaders who thumb their noses at the most basic teachings of Christ and still dare to claim the name “Christian†without challenge. Others bearing the same name can’t trash Christianity often enough.
We’ve had 9/11, wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, floods, hurricanes, tsunamis, earthquakes, suicide bombers, pirates, illegal immigration, a worldwide financial collapse, and declining populations throughout the Western industrial world.
It’s enough to make ancient Egypt seem like the “good old days.â€
“Tolerance, diversity, and understanding†have replaced “faith, hope and charity†even on the website of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops. The ancient outrage of the prophets has been drowned by media-induced mediocrity.
Jesus, by contrast, was notably intolerant. “If anyone offend one of these little ones who believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depths of the sea.†(Matt. 18:6.)
Contrary to this smiley new reputation, Jesus didn’t think much of pedophiles, abortionists, or Pharisees, whom He compared to whitened sepulchers full of rottenness within.
In short the whirlwind has arrived.
Barack Obama has pledged to sign the Freedom of Choice Act – a bill that will go far beyond Roe v. Wade toward making America the abortion capital of the world. He has also announced plans to put trillions more on the national credit card, payable by your children and grandchildren and mine.
He’s already come down firmly on the side of the continued slaughter of the unborn. Can the frogs, gnats, flies, anthrax, boils, hail, and locusts be far behind?
