(2008-06-10) — Rebounding from today’s failed effort to increase taxes on the “windfall profits” of U.S. oil companies, Senate Democrats quickly introduced a bill to tax “windfall campaign contributions”.
The move comes as Democrat presidential nominee Barack Obama stands poised to raise $100 million in June, when just two months ago he raised only $31.3 million.
“Obama is taking advantage of the scarcity of Democrat presidential candidates to fatten his coffers,” said Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-NV. “At a time when fuel and food prices are skyrocketing, Americans are rightly offended when a man can triple his earnings without working an extra hour.”

How appropriate! After all, name one thing that Mr. Obama has actually done to earn all that additional money? Hmmm?
Come back when you’ve actually produced some “change”, Barry – and done something to “bring us all together”, and then ask us to “contribute”!
2 everthink // Jun 10, 2008 at 4:26 pm
Well RedPepper,
They ARE contributions! When I sent him my contribution, I hoped he would use it to win the Democratic Party’s nomination. When he did, he certainly CHANGED your expectation of who would be John McCain’s opponent!
“My friends”, I will max out my limit to see him finish his quest!
“You know in your heart, “Barry” is right!”

What I’d like to know is this….if our economy is truly in the tank, where, pray tell are all these contributions coming from?! Hmmmm?!
And on another note, with all his questionable associations (the infamous couple [Bill Ayers and wife] responsible for bombing the Pentagon for example, not to mention his buddy Tony Rezko) are we sure Nobama can even pass the security background check to enter the White House?!!

Regarding today’s failed effort to increase taxes on the “windfall profits†of U.S. oil companies…I’m glad they failed; gas prices are already high, thank you very little. Don’t they realize that such a move would accelerate the rising prices?

o.t. Just when I needed a really good laugh this comes along from”The Best of the WSJ – it’s comforting to know this won’t be a serious problem. Must watch out for that “constant darkness” – never know who you might run upon.
WELLINGTON (Reuters) – One of the last shipments to a U.S. research base in Antarctica before the onset of winter darkness was a year’s supply of condoms, a New Zealand newspaper reported Monday.
Bill Henriksen, the manager of the McMurdo base station, said nearly 16,500 condoms were delivered last month and would be made available, free of charge, to staff throughout the year to avoid the potential embarrassment of having to buy them.
The base only has a skeleton staff through the long winter.
“Since everybody knows everyone, it becomes a little bit uncomfortable,” Henriksen told the Southland Times newspaper.
About 125 scientists and staff are stationed at McMurdo base, the largest community in Antarctica, during the winter months when there is constant darkness.

OBAMA RUNNING FOR JIMMY CARTER’S SECOND TERM
B. Hussein Obama has announced that he is officially running to complete the second term of Jimmy Carter who had his presidency stolen from him in the 1980 election by “a vast right-wing conspiracy.”
Mr. Obama shared his messianic message of change, “The time for change is now! No longer can we tolerate 2% inflation, a 5.5% unemployment rate, 6% mortage rates, 7.5% lending rates and a military beyond compare composed of
jackbooted stormtroopers engaged in an illegal and immoral warbrave inner city youths just looking to get ahead in life despite the last five years of a recessionary economy. We are witnessing the worst economy since the Great Depression and the poor are disproportionately suffering. Things must change and we must change how things are to be changed if we are to truly change.”Mr. Obama’s call to complete Jimmy Carter’s second term harkens back to a day when the inflation rate was nearing double digits, unemployment was edging past 7.5%, the mortgage rates were pushing 10 and 12% and in some cases personal bank loans were nearly 13%. But he assured his fawning audience that things will be different this time around when he attempts to soak the rich, disarm law abiding citizens to make America a safer place, initiate American friendships with rogue regimes and Muslim freedom fighter associations around the world, and make Big Oil, Big Halliburton, Big Bankers, and Big Government pay for the new entitlements that Democrats are sure all
socialist-mindedsocially sensitive Americans will rally around.Americans are calling for “change” and Mr. Obama seems to fill that political niche much better than the cancer-ridden,
lying scumbag neo-conformer POW and Republican who was once embraced by Democrat moderates as a “maverick” and a breath of fresh air in a country so bereft of healthy bi-partisanship.All hail the coming Obamessiah!!!10 DrivebyMeteor // Jun 10, 2008 at 7:04 pm

Camo – Don’t judge the results of their actions, judge their intentions. Making Big Oil PAY is a noble cause! In their world the evil people just roll over and pay up because they have made so much they won’t even miss a few billion, sorta like the evil rich white guys. Government mandates and regulations increase costs for all of us, but they really do mean well ya know.

If we were truly patriotic we would all let Washington have our entire paychecks in return for a 10X12 room and food and healthcare. What could be better than that?

I find these quotes to be very educational; It’s no wonder the Liberals have an “Anti-gun” agenda.
And it’s no wonder that “Manmade Global Warming” is such a big “emergency”!!!
Adolph was elected by the people, under the spell of his oratory and his promise of ‘change’.
Adolf Hitler, quotes about Nazi:
The most foolish mistake we could possibly make would be to allow the subject races to possess arms. History shows that all conquerors who have allowed the subject races to carry arms have prepared their own downfall by so doing. Indeed, I would go so far as to say that the supply of arms to the underdogs is a sine qua non for the overthrow of any sovereignty.
more Adolf Hitler quotes
This year will go down in history. For the first time, a civilised nation has full gun registration! Our streets will be safer, our police more efficient, and the world will follow our lead into the future!
___________________________
Herbert Hoover, quotes about Nazi:
Every collectivist revolution rides in on a Trojan horse of ‘emergency’. It was the tactic of Lenin, Hitler, and Mussolini. In the collectivist sweep over a dozen minor countries of Europe, it was the cry of men striving to get on horseback. And ‘emergency’ became the justification of the subsequent steps. This technique of creating emergency is the greatest achievement that demagoguery attains.

I love the almost insane level of spin that’s required to make a NEGATIVE out of the fact that Obama has an enormous ability to raise money – a amazingly high percentage of it from small donors, to boot.
Did you think it was a negative quality in George W. Bush, too?
Oh, I forgot – his contributions were from multinational corporations more than American citizens, so it was ok.
So – how much is McCain raising?
Do you think that it makes McCain look GOOD that no one wants to contribute to his campaign – not even Republicans?

Obama: The candidate who can be –no, make that is– bought. He has innumerable suckers who have sent plenty of arugula (even though they are suffering out in the streets in this great second Great Depression) in order to have an even bigger piece of the pie.
Is it possible that his incredible accumulation of campaign funds has come from some well-connected sources that have broken the donations into small portions by raiding the roster of dead Chicagoans and attibuting the financial support to them?
Obama: Change that only chumps can believe in!
With convicted felons, members of CPUSA, former domestic terrorists, race baiters, corrupt machine-politicians, and the Muslim Brotherhood forming the foundation of his rise in politics, Obama surely has a platform to appeal to the naive and perpetually aggrieved.
As long as that Beltoneâ„¢-implanted Bluetoothâ„¢ keeps him on-message in front of the zombies at his rallies, the Boy Wonder should bring down the house…if not the nation.

ignatz #29 – You’ve reminded me that when I was in school, aye those many long gone years ago – we did what was called “tracing”. If I was very careful I could trace a map or picture that was very much like the original.
Now of course, today we can “cut and paste†with our computers and get an exact replica of the original, and that’s fine.
Now, back in the 1930’s there was this little man 5′8″(173 cm) tall, he had a funny little mustache and he was an elegant speaker. Very clean and articulate, he could talk an Angel out of his wings and then lease them back to him. (gender-neuter) He looked good, smelled good and in an incredible short time rose from nothingness to being loved and adored by everybody.
The workers, farmers, garage mechanics, hausfraus, garbage collectors, beauticians – everybody flooded him with their money – even cleaning out their meager bank accounts to joyfully, cheerfully, hilariously donate to his cause, because he oh so elegantly promised them change.
He gave the people what he had promised, change, change and more change. He changed virtually every aspect of their lives. (truly a man of his word)
Now the amazing thing is that B.O. has seemingly done a “cut and paste” on this man. He surrounds himself with Jack-Booted thugs – aka “Reverends”, criminals, etc. point for point there seems to be a duplication. He’s a dynamic, convincing speaker (at times) and oh yes, did I mention he promises change.
I pray daily that America will never see his version of change. (not that McCain is all that much better, he’s pretty much a RINO himself). McCain’s one outstanding quality is the fact that his last name isn’t Obama!
