ABC Drama Marks 50th Anniversary of 9/11

by Scott Ott for ScrappleFace · 66 Comments · · Print This Story Print This Story

(2051-09-11) — As part of the nation’s month-long celebration of the 50th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks, ABC television tonight will show an educational drama called ‘The Path from 9/11‘.

The docudrama recounts the initial resistance to global jihad mounted by the infidels of the former United States of America in the immediate aftermath of the great martyrdom operation.

But then the tide turns in favor of the budding Islamic caliphate (Allah be praised!). As memories of the 2001 attacks fade, world opinion turns against the Great Satan. Then the Great Satan turns on itself, consumed from within by a toxic combination of political ambition and cowardice masquerading as tolerance.

The Path from 9/11: A Triumph of the Will illustrates the righteousness of Usama Bin Laden’s cause, and how his unswerving commitment to jihad ensured the establishment of our glorious global Caliphate, upon which today the sun never sets.

The program begins tonight at 7 p.m., right after Chief Justice al-Zawahiri leads Sunset Prayer Live from the National Mosque and just before a very special episode of American Idol.

The Path from 9/11, includes a scholastic study guide for boys, and is required viewing for all subjects of the Islamic Republic of America.

Advanced overnight ratings indicate the show will notch a 100 share and shall win its timeslot.

Once again, here’s an excellent futuristic tale which warns of what may happen if western civilizations continue to ignore the Islamofascist threat as the work of mere fringe groups, exacerbated by the self-destructive fingerpointing of self-loathing American haters (i.e. liberals and socialist humanists)

In Mr. Simmons’ scenario America is the lone bulwark of freedom resisting global Islamism while Europe devolves into an Eurabia plunging headlong into open appeasement of Muslim fundamentalism.

    Hey, good-by yellow-brick road!

The Koran can only be interpreted correctly from its original language, yet most Moslems do not know what it says. How then are they to understand that the big picture is to kill all Jews and Christians when their radical brethren do it with such conviction. It does not matter if they are moderate. Just so that they are Muslim is what seems to matter and the big picture that comes along with it.

I know, I know. Who reads yesterday’s papers? But I had listed two links at the end of the LEAK thread about Fancy Pants Berger as well as the Dems’ attack against ABC that some may not have seen. They are worth checking out.

Hank is correct about the Dems’ plans to institute the “Fairness” Doctrine because they are frightened about the impact that facts and opposing viewpoints have on their stranglehold of the media. When Err America can’t make it on its own, we’ll have to listen to even more skewed propaganda from the Left under penalty of law.

I’ve gotta say, as I read more about this miniseries uproar I’m leaning toward the Dem position on this one. I’m truly mystified as to why ABC would fictionalize anything surrounding an event like 9/11.

I understand the need for composite characters and events in a dramatization, but if they portray the Clinton Administration unfairly it loses as much value for me as if they had unfairly portrayed Bush or anyone else for that matter.

I think this subject deserves to be treated with complete accuracy or not at all. There’s only one villian in this story and it’s not Clinton, regardless of his negligence.

    Comment by Godfrey — September 8, 2006 @ 6:40 pm

There are a LOT of villains in the story; some for their actions (e.g.: 19 hijackers) and others for their inaction…like Sick (not Slick!) Willie.

  • 26 prettyold // Sep 8, 2006 at 7:29 pm

Hmmmm. I thought it was rather strange ABC would show a movie critical of the Dims in the years 1990 to 2001. But I heard the movie was pretty factual with dramatizations of things we will recognize as real happenings. Now we have this tempest in a teapot from Clinton etal ,the Libblogs are going nuts . and I am beginning to wonder . Is this a way to get many more people to watch this miniseries? Is this a ploy to draw everyone in ,then hit us with a very different movie than we were promised? Instead of “Clinton Cowers ,while Islam take Powers” are we really going to be shown more “Bush Lied ,People Died”?

  • 28 onlineanalyst // Sep 8, 2006 at 7:32 pm

Both Hewitt and Bozell indicate in their reviews of the docudrama that the “blame” or failure to act with decisive vigor prior to 9-11 falls to both Clinton and Bush. The bigger point of the program, they maintain however, is that the deadly earnest aims of Islamic jihad are to be taken seriously.

Lost in all of this finger-pointing is that the threat to our national security has/had been brewing for quite some time and that the threat will not go away regardless of who is CIC unless it is identified forthrightly and defeated. “Containment” and “negotiations” have/had allowed the threats to escalate into growing atrocities through the years until the wake-up call of 9-11. Some people, however, have preferred to go back to sleep (or remember a happier time of their dream world).

    RE: #24~~

For the sake of conversation (and at the risk of appearing semantical or to pick at nits):

I’m not sure that dramatization is the same as fictionalization.

Nevertheless, don’t forget that those disingenuous people who sent that letter making presumptuous claims and overt threats had not seen the flick before passing judgement upon it. To me that’s what’s the real shame about this whole brouhaha.

It’s not like I’m going to watch it, anyway…..

Here’s an example of why, more and more often, I find myself asking myself, “WHY/HOW do these people get re-elected year after year after year!?!”

“Sen. (Guess Who) warned Republicans to either accept the Senate’s version of immigration reform – which includes amnesty for illegal aliens – or risk losing Congress to Democrats in the upcoming mid-term elections.”

Threats are becoming a way of life for these people. OOoooo, I’m SO sceered…..

  • 32 Effeminem // Sep 8, 2006 at 7:53 pm

I think the biggest problem with this TV miniseries is that it’s a TV miniseries, and will inevitably suck.

During the partisan kvetching, they used one example of somebody… National security advisor or something… Hanging up on somebody at a crucial moment and missing vital information blah blah.. That’s got to be the most overused plot device in the history of overused plot devices.

  • 34 Godfrey // Sep 8, 2006 at 7:56 pm

Camo: not sure a failure to appreciate the threat makes someone a villian. Clinton definitely screwed up, don’t get me wrong. But let’s not forget that there was also a Republican Congress during most of his administration. Where were they?

Just as the Dems are doing now, they were playing political games with the issue. Here’s a trip down memory lane.

    Ah, politics!

I tend to give a lot more latitude to people who failed to appreciate the threat pre-9/11. But as OLA points out, there’s really no excuse for failing to appreciate it today.

As for 19 hijackers, they were certainly evil but I think they qualify more as “henchmen” than as Bondesque supervillian types.

Effeminem: miniseries do tend to suck. You notice how a lot of them have colons in their name? For instance:

John Hinderaker at Powerlineblog offers level-headed remarks: http://powerlineblog.com/archives/015223.php

Here is his conclusion after citing Glenn Greenwald and James Lileks:
“I agree with Glenn and James. I would also note that President Bush has, to my knowledge, never said a critical word about his predecessor’s failure to deal with the threat posed by al Qaeda and similar groups. If the Democrats had been willing to put aside their fecklessness after 9/11 and participate constructively in defending our security, I, too, would have little or no interest in revisiting the events of 1993 to 2001.

“But there is a huge problem with this magnanimous approach. The Democrats are, today, trying to dismantle our efforts to fight the terrorists. They are trying to block the NSA from intercepting terrorists’ communications; they are trying to force our armed forces to treat captured terrorists with the same deference they would accord to a member of our own services; and they are trying to block the confirmation of John Bolton as U.N Ambassador so that he can be replaced with someone who will offer meaningless platitudes instead of aggressive advocacy of American interests.

“What the Democrats are trying to do is return to the hunker-down and hope for the best days of the Clinton administration. They are trying to sell the American people on the absurd proposition that the terrorist threat we face today is mostly George Bush’s fault, and that if we only abandon his tough approach to national security, everything will be fine.

“That is why I think it is critically important that the American people not be deceived about how we got to the pass we arrived at on September 11, 2001; and that is why, I think, the Democrats are so hysterical about The Path to 9/11.

“We’ve been down that path before. Let’s not try it again.”

I might further add that insisting on honesty in our media would clarify the muddied waters.

Scott is going FORWARD in time about 45 years, while Sindy Shehag wants to go BACK in time about 60 years ago.

If we can locate the Delorean from “Back to the Future”, maybe it will be easy to get Shehag in it, then change the date to when they were burning witches at the stake?

Rush also refered today to a list, (on a blog that is on Scott’s blog roll, sorry I cannot remember the name), that has the number of terrorist attacks during the Klinton admin.

It is 2 pages long! I thing Rush said 30 or more!

R.A.M. “If we can locate the Delorean from “Back to the Future”, maybe it will be easy to get Shehag in it, then change the date to when they were burning witches at the stake?”

I just got from my analyst. I told him I am no longer sure what world I live in. I know, at least I think I know, I was born on earth but lately that seems to be an illusion.

I wake up to arguments over 9/11 and ABC, saying that Clinton did this and that while Sandy Pants didn’t do that.

The senate has come out with a report saying bin Laden had nothing to do with Iraq, but al Queda put out a video saying all Moslems should kill at least one American.

England’s government is in trouble and they dare not argue the truth or the umpteen billion Moslems that now live there will destroy the nation overnight.

Godfrey, I heard Rush Limbaugh talk about this movie and he said that it does not say anything unkind about Clinton. He said that he finds it interesting that the Dems are so narcissistic to think that this film is all about them. He said that it isn’t…that after you see the movie, the only conviction that you come out with is how evil and how determined the islamofacists are. Clinton has not even seen the movie and he is freaking out. The only thing that the DNC is doing is making more people want to see this thing and ABC couldn’t have paid for this kind of advertising.

While I suspect there are those who wish there were such a thing as a “Memory Hole” as depicted in “1984″ by George Orwell, there isn’t.

A rewritten history has a limited shelf-life, especially in today’s information-driven world, and will rejuvenate itself with a vengence.

This observation pretty much says it all:

“The old days of centralized media control are over. The attempt at censorship is not just futile, it is probably counter-productive. By protesting so harshly, the Clintonstas and KosKidz are drawing attention to the underlying questions of responsibility for the spread of Islamofascism during the 8 years of Clinton.”

All of the strawman and ad hominem arguments in the world cannot bury the truth; they can only obscure it temporarily, eventually they will spontaneously combust with a repulsive stench. Obviously, something just as stinky might be revealed but it will be revealed.

    To paraphrase the Bard:

The Party doth protest too much, methinks.
