(2006-09-08) — Top Senate Democrats, outraged over inaccuracies in the upcoming ABC mini-series The Path to 9/11, today said that in addition to yanking the network’s broadcast license, if the show airs Democrats might also withhold from ABC News the daily distribution of Democrat talking points.
A spokesman for Disney-owned ABC News said that while the network could weather the revocation of its broadcast license, thanks to the proliferation of cable and satellite TV, the loss of the Democrat talking points would force the news division to hire dozens of new reporters to fill the void in its newscasts.
Meanwhile, Scholastic Inc. recalled a Path to 9/11 study guide which it had offered to 25,000 high school teachers nationwide, and replaced it with “a more balanced, traditional teaching tool” prepared by MoveOn.org with help from Oscar-winning filmmaker Michael Moore.
In related news, a spokesman for former President Bill Clinton demanded significant cuts to an upcoming DVD release of Snow White to “eliminate factual errors and scenes of dwarf behavior clearly intended to smear the former president’s administration.”

I find the ramifications of this entire bizarre scenario disconcerting on many, many levels.
Looks to me like the Democrat jack-boots have come out of the closet on this one. I’m no fan of Disney/ABC, by any means, but if this says anything at all to voters, it says “Vote Republican.”
I think any one of us could write volumes on the utter hypocrisy of this…..

Apparently, former President Clinton, and the rest of his merry hench-men are a wee bit upset about the widely-reported story about Clinton’s turning down, when offered, Bin Laden’s head on a platter? Why is he objecting to the truth?
Gee, Clinton said, and still says, we don’t have any authority to hold him.
He should have sent in the Rangers to solve the problem (for example). That would be much easier to deny, wouldn’t it? And no one would care today, or yesterday.
Further, many lives might not have been lost had he done his sworn duty at the time.
That Clinton is making a big fuss of this is bound to back-fire, if it points inquiring minds in the direction of what actually happened.

Why is Sandy Berger still walking around a free man? If a Republican entered the National Achives and stuffed highly classified documents down their pants, there would be a call for a public hanging from the Dems. Some documents containing information on how the Clinton administration handled Al Qaeda terror threats during the Dec 1999 millenium celebration are still missing. We need a special prosecutor to delve into what was in Sandy Berger’s pants, and he put it there. Did everybody in the Clinton administration have problems keeping their pants zipped up? Who was Berger trying to protect? Clinton, Albright, or was this in his own self interest?
Clinton’s administration make Nixon’s look like amateurs. Where is the press’ and the public’s outrage?

The liberal bloggers have called for a “Google Bomb” to be launced on the nights of the drama so that anyone who tries to do a search on the movie will go straight to a Dem website that will have “explanations” of supposedly inaccurate information from said movie. I have told my liberal friends that they can shut up about the fascists in the WhiteHouse and the Gestapo headed by Rove. Both, Disney Corp is run by a bunch of liberals.
Here’s the deal, we know the 9/11 mini-series must be pretty close to the historical facts. It’s like my attitude toward the lamestream media. If the liberal media has to bite its lips and run a story which supports the conservative viewpoint, then you know it must be true. If liberals complain about the liberal media not running their version of the truth, you pretty much know that the liberal editors can’t bring themselves to run interference with such thinly-veiled moonbat stories … except in cases like the Bush TANG memos, Plamegate, the Downing Street memos, supposed Israeli war atrocities, etc. So those lib-blog “news” stories are false.
So, given ABC’s willingness to run a movie that liberals hate pretty much tells me the movie has real legs when it comes to historical documentation, even though it’s being billed as a docudrama.

Yes, I, too, found the desperate, blatantly malicious Google-Bomb strategy quite telling.
Obviously, the LLLs are in a state of utter panic now that election time draws nigh.
This whole thing, initiated by the heavy-handedness of that letter to ABC, is spiralling out of control.
The average American Citizen, who might search the net for info on that mini-series, is, first of all, going to be offended by such tactics. Secondly, the hysterical, headless-chicken reaction of the leftists lends an aura of credibility to the assumptions/inferences (who can say who said exactly what, but we know something similar must have been said) made in the film that–prior to this hair-pulling, hand-wringing, sweat-popping-out-on-the-forehead rabid snarling–may very well have been considered dubious.
The Democrats are committing hara-kiri, in every venue afforded them, before our very eyes. LOL They’ve all gone mad. Their brains are irrevocably “ate up.” It’s like watching a train wreck.

Harry Reid’s letter to Disney included this veiled threat:
“The Communications Act of 1934 provides your network with a free broadcast license predicated on the fundamental understanding of your principle obligation to act as a trustee of the public airwaves in serving the public interest. Nowhere is this public interest obligation more apparent than in the duty of broadcasters to serve the civic needs of a democracy by promoting an open and accurate discussion of political ideas and events.”
Translation: If you, Disney, don’t pull this project, we Democrats may pull your FCC license if we get in power.
This reminds of an incident during the 2004 presidential race. A broadcaster planned to air a TV show that was unflattering towards John Kerry (who served in Vietnam). Predictably, the Dem’s went ballistic, and they threatened and intimidated the broadcaster. One of Kerry’s campaign team (I wish I could remember which one) said that the broadcaster better hope Kerry doesn’t win, because their FCC license could be revoked.
Stalinism is alive and well.
